I am running mine with a 15x10 on a pattern bird. Kinda hard to slow her down on landings. May try a 16x8. What's up with the high speed needle being so hard to turn. If I take the needle all the way out and put back in, no problem. If the plane sits for a few days, it becomes wicked hard to turn.

well, it is a seagull edge. 700 sq in wing area i think. i sold the .91fx and got a deal on a saito 150. no 120 for me.

with the 91, it got up to 9500 with the baffle taken out of the muffler and a 15 6 apc.

Hi,
I was out and ran my new 120AX for the first time. It is installed on a fast airplane. One tank on the ground then adjusted the high and low end slightly rich and got another four tanks in the air just for the break in . It was very hot out there about 32celsius, 90fahrenheit, so I didnt want to peak it but got something around 7700rpm very rich on a APC14x14 with the supplied muffler "powerbox", 10% nitro and 25% castor oil in the fuel. Engine ran very good and reliable, the idle is very low and noise level was very low. I have nothing bad to say about this engine Next time I might try the APC 13x13,5N to get more top speed.

Ok, yesterday I ran this beast again and fitted a APC 13x13,5N and it seemed like this was the sweet spot for this engine on a speed plane got 9600rpm easily and it still ran slightly rich. Top speed was much better now and the engine unloaded pretty good in the air. This powerbox seem to be more than a ordinary muffler and acted more like a tuned exhaust system.

I have this engine running in a Carl Goldberg Sukhoi SU-26MX at 11.5lbs turning a Mezjlik 18X6 on 30% nitro and I think it was turning it aroud 8700 ready to fly. While vertical is not completely unlimited, it is pretty decent. whaturi has seen this plane fly many times with this combo.

I think that I would remove the baffle from the muffler I would get even more out of it, but I am actually pretty satisfied at the way it flies. I'm not wanting this plane for 3D, mainly sport/IMAC type flying. I did have it hovering a bit and it's pullout was nothing to write home about, but it did pull out.

Wow 30% nitro and loading it @8700 static! Are you flying at high throttle settings? What glow plug are you running? How is your mileage? Don't you have to set it very rich with 30% on this motor? Have you tried lower nitro?

Actually I just started to lean it a bit and the last I checked for someone else I was at 2 1/4 turns out on the HS. It is just starting on it's 4th gallon of fuel. I normally fly at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and punch it going vertical or while doing slow rolls, 4 point rolls or even high speed KE passes.

I am using the stock tank, which I think is something like 17 ounces and I normally hold my flights to 10 minutes and have just under 1/2 tank left over. I have tried lower nitro (15% heli) and it still flew but it definitely was in need of a prop change. Probably around a 17x6 or 16x6. The glow plug is whatever came with it, most likely an OS #8.

The engine is really starting to come in now. When I first bought it all I had was 30% for my Saito and heli so I used it. I then bought the 15% and hated it so that is why I stayed with it. Max prop on this engine is the APC 18X6 so I firgured that since the Mezjlik I had lying around was a ton lighter it would not be too much of a problem.

I get no detonation. I use heli blends (30/24) since the cowl blocks a good bit of the top of the engine, even though I have a cutout right in front of the head, the head is still back about 4 inches and I really hate building a baffle for this puppy.

I actually was amazed that this engine has held up with the high nitro content I am running. I've owned a ton of OS engines and up until this one, anything much over 20% and they are detonated something fierce. You should hear my OS160 on 30%. I filled it with it by accident and I thought the engine was going to come apart.

Some more running . Have slightly more than a gallon fuel thru it now and it peaks the APC 13x13,5N @ 10300rpm .
This power box is a real tuned muffler. Tried the mighty APC 14x14 again but it seemed like it was below the tuning rpm for this muffler and got only 8000rpm. For aerobatics I think any prop. that will turn +8500rpm static would be good for this engine.

Anyone know if this engine is enough for Intermediate pattern on a ~10#/ 2meter. I was considering trying the 120 on a 2 meter. If its not enough on it I will put it on my Showtime.

The 120 can be adequate but you will have to turn up the RPM and noise a little more than a 140-160.

A 120ax can fly a 2meter bird but it can not pull the plane in vertical, especially in square loop with 1/2 rolls. Your better with a 160 engines.
