Hello ever one I would like to know what you guys think about the Dazzle products. I have a camcorder and want to go from the camera to the computer and be able to save it as a mpeg or wmv something along this line. Right now the only was we have to go from camera to anything is to use the home unit DVD recorder and we go from he cam recorder to DVD but then I have no way of converting DVD to mpeg or whatever. will the dazzle products work? I was thinking the $79.00 one

http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Home+Video/Dazzle/?dz=1

there the site for it. Please let me know if you have it or used it before and how long does it take. I am ruining windows ME. right now will it work with ME?

Thanks

Well #1 you should not be running ME under any circumstances 98, 2000, or XP. ME was the biggest joke M$ ever put ot.

The Dazzle products are O.K. but you are better off buy a cheap Mini DV camcorder and using it as a pass-thru device. Make sure the DV cam has firewire/i.link/IEEE1394 <-(all the same thing) and you will need a firewire card for your computer.

Sorry you feel that way about ME,I have ran it for about 4 years now and most time dont have any problems out of it this computor is to old to run XP. Anyways I only have Usb port 2.0 in this computor no Fireware ones. Thats why im looking at stuff with USB ports. Usb port 2.0 are just as fast as the firwares, as I understand it, so Do you not really have expreice yourself with this ? or if you do what do you use yourself?

Buy an Aiptek 5100 or 5900 in your local walmart. I have the 5100 and my buddy has the 5900. They are about $100 dollars and take very good digital video. You will need to buy a 512 meg. storage card for the video camera for another $50 or so. Check out some of my posted aerial videos on RCUniverse and you'll want one. They will plug right into your USB port for quick downloads.

Not sure my walmart sell anything like that. so with the 512 card how long of video can you take with it? I might need to look into things like this.

Well REAL video is like 13 gigs per hour and while so I doubt SERIOUSLY there would be ANY reason to purchase a 512 meg card.

Firewire Read Test:
5000 files (300 MB total) FireWire was 33% faster than USB 2.0
160 files (650MB total) FireWire was 70% faster than USB 2.0

Firewire Write Test:
5000 files (300 MB total) FireWire was 16% faster than USB 2.0
160 files (650MB total) FireWire was 48% faster than USB 2.0

Not to mention FW is, kind of, "the standard". Apparently you can run a firewire card even with good old Windows 98 <- (What I run on my old old computer)
http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/ieee-1394_support.html

buy a FW card http://www.buyextras.com/firewirecards.html it is like $10
Then buy a cheap DV camera like this http://www.epinions.com/Sony_Handycam_DCR_TRV280_Camcorder and you will shoot AWESOME movies and be able to convert/import you old ones PLUS have a real camcorder.

IF you can lift that Sony camcorder in the air with an average RC plane, you'd be right but since we are using these Aipteks with good results, don't knock it. We get 30FPS and at 320 resolution it isn't bad for internet video linking. On the other hand, if you have a giant scale plane that can lift 3-4 lbs of hardware, go right ahead !

I read that you fly large RC helicopters, hence the reason you can loft a few pounds in the air. Unless your flying large scale planes, stay away from the mini camcorders, you won't get it in the air with a standard 40-60 size plane.

I have been doing video editiong for over 6 years now and Dazzle is crap! the two best ways to go is to buy a Canopus advc100 or a decent DV camcorder and 1934 firewire card. The advc100 is the best capture device on the market for under $500.00 it captures from any analog source TV, VCR, camcorder and DV source DVD player dv camcorder the audio sync is perfect and has no dropped frames. If you have lots of vhs tapes you want to preserve the advc100 is the way to go.

Windows ME is not good for video capture it captures in a Fat32 format and cuts the video off after 7 minutes or so (can't remember for sure the cut off time) what you want is 2000 or XP they are a NTFS format and can capture as much video as there is hard drive space like stated above its about 13 gigs of hard drive space per hours of captured video I recommend at least 60GB hard drive I have a seperate 160GB hard drive just for video editing. Hopes this helps.
