OS-50SX... Ah! Good choice... The K&B-48 is a great alternative or a Webra-50 if you can find one used maybe for cheap.... YS-45 used on Ebay would be awesome and Rossi-45/53 on 5% would be runners-
I sure loved my OS-50SX

Looks good cyclic. The aircraft in your picture is actually a T-38 / F-5 variant. Of course the F-20 is derived from that design. Single engine though. Here are some pictures...
!QUOT!The F-20 Tigershark was final expression of the F-5 / T-38 family. While bearing considerable resemblance to these earlier aircraft, the aerodynamics were improved by a redesigned nose and leading edge extensions, a single, more powerful engine (similar to the F-16's) replaced the pair of engines in earlier models, and the internal systems were updated throughout. Initially designated the F-5G, the Mach 2 class F-20 Tigershark's basic single-seat configuration was formally designated the F-20A. Three prototypes were produced - two in a bright red-and-white paint scheme and one in a metallic grey -- of which two crashed during sales demonstrations.!QUOT! - globalsecurity.org

YOu may know this already but in case you don't. Do you mean the actual F-20 or the F-5? I think Kangke and Cermark F20 are actual F 20 backends where as their is only one single tail cone. All the others that have like a flat back end represent the F-5 series which was a twin engine.
Already beat ya to it bubba! Thanks. The distributors have been calling the F-5's a F20 for years. Why I don't know. I have a coupl e now for about 8 years and fly great.

You can only do so much with a prop jet. They build them very sport scale. Those Ducted fans and turbines can get down right scale. Real nice ones. I need to move to Florida and get me a sugar mama.
I stumble on to the difference several years back. I was wondering why mine had a flat back end and "Kangke" had a round. So I went looking. Just never paid attention to it before.

Al, Here is a little more scale info for ya.
The little jello cups are about the perfect size to make a single tail cone fwiw. I needed a ton of weight in the tail of my F-16 and made a mold of one and cast the last .25 of the tailcone in lead. Don't think I could get it further back than that.

Well my next little trick was extending the belly pan about an inch so that it would blend into the wing better rather than just a blunt front end. I took a piece of a leftover aileron I had laying around since it already had the angle and glued it up. Came out okay

I cannot remember what is in all of this thread but I don't recall anybody having flutter problems. Several of us to include me had flutter issues on the Cermark F20 that is not produced anymore and ultimately killed the planes. Mine went in on its maiden flight a couple years ago. The elevators on this plane are smaller in size like on my other DC F20. I think it will be fine.

great, cant wait to hear how you go with a Jett stream muffler... I'd be interested in the tach numbers as a comparison to what I'm getting with just a Vmax muffler
The phoenix did her 1st maiden today and I am impressed, os50sx with jett muffler tached out a little more then 17000 on a apc 10/6 prop........took it easy on her but tracked very well.....will have to get some more time on the engine and will maybe try a 9/7 or 9/8 prop and see what kind of speed she makes............mlitt12345

well I finally got around to taching my 50SX in the F20 and it looks like I could use a Jett stream aswell..my best rpm peaked out at 15,150 on a 10 x 6 apc
I know the aditional 1/2" lenght of exhaust over the Vmax muffler wont gain me 2,000 rpm but I imagine it might give me about 600 more....I wanted to bolt up the Jett stream from my Jett 46 but the exhaust bolts are a slightly larger diameter and wont go through the flange of the OS...I might just try getting longer bolts of smaller diameter and use lock nuts...
but I'll say it again..17,000 is quite impressive...puts it in the same league as a sport jett 50 as they are advertised to turn a 10 x 6 at 17,000..well done!!

As an alternate power source, Rossi USA has some nice offerings in the .40, .45, and .53 sizes at decent prices. These come in a few different pipe combinations, including the mini-tuned pipe, the Ultra Thrust, and the full tuned pipe versions.
Rossi engines scream, and are bullet proof, as well as a 3 year warranty. They will also exceed the specs....most engines won't even meet the specs. For instance, my .45....rated at 16K turns 18.1K on the ground, more on the pipe....about 20K.....on 5% nitro Power Master.
An engineer says.... "That won''t work". A mechanic says..."Oh yeah, watch this". "Old Age, and Treachery will overcome youth and skill". Revver Bro #4.
