The prop I am using right now for break in is a Top Flite Power Point 10x6. Turns out, it was almost in balance. Not enough to worry about anyway. But the Dave Brown spinner was the problem. I ended up drilling the backplate to get it balanced, and then the cone made the assembly out of balance again. I just kept rotating the cone a few degrees at a time until I found the 'least' OOB condition and made a reference mark for assembly. And I did a few extra props.

After 7 flights the F20 tiger shark is toothpicks, elevator fludder got it, I've been hearing a fluddering sound but could not see any control surfaces moving thought it was landing gear (I should've replaced the stock horn) I lost elevator control and went nose in at high speed.....ripped the jett muffler off the os50sx, one of the muffler ears broke completely off so it is no good the engine might be ok(just got dirt in it and broke where the muffler mounts on the forward end) , i wonder if I can get a new front housing for the jett muffler, oh well....gravity happens sometimes......live and learn.... mlitt12345

mlitt,

sorry to hear that. Hopefully folks pay heed to the linkage on thei Phx F-20, and your sacrafice does not go to waste.

The muffler usually can be repaired. Email Dub jettengr@sbcglobal.net

Hi mlitt12345,

Sorry to hear yours is gone too, that is the 2nd of these to succome to elevator horn failure. Did it have those soft horns in the kit, as mine did, as well as that bizarre linkage system that I talked about before.

Tony

This is what I have done to my F20 since this happend

crasharama my elevator horn looks like yours (white-plastic) in fact it separated at the same spot, So any one else flying with the stock elev. horns (change-them) I wish I would've seen the elevator control surface fluddering, kept hearing a fludder but could not see it....those stock white plastic elev. horns will not hold up to much fludder for sure, I will use HD robarts or equivelant from now on....mlitt12345

here are a few pics, I believe the engine and jett muffler our salvageable will have to use nuts to hold the muffler on.......you can also see where the muffler broke away from the engine......mlitt12345

Well this just wants to make me run and finish this tomorrow? You guys think this is a "horn" failure? If it makes ya feel any better. When my cermark f20 went in on flutter a coupl e years ago, my Jett 90 muffler broke in the same spot. Sent it in to dub and fixed it right up--at a reasonable fee of course

I doubt that it was the control horns fault....the elevator fluttered, and the horn
broke....as a result. The straight hinge on the F-20 is the culprit....poor
design. The angled hinge lines, like on the Patriot is the correct answer.

I am wondering if I should put some clear tape over my hinge lines? I have hatch tape that I use on my boats.........

....yup....

....anything over 100 mph needs to be sealed on the hinge line.
