Look at the front of the wing on page 12. It helps secure the wing in place. You can barely see it at the top of the picture

HaveBlue: I will test fit my Webra 50GT tomorrow and let you know. Here are a couple scans of my instruction manual. Not trying to make you feel bad mate, just showing the difference.

no worries Kmot..I haven't taken a photo of our version yet , like I said I'd do, but it looks like our set out except in colour and glossy wheres ours was black and white non glossy paper ..pretty much like a photocopy version!!!

the 50 size engine will be a good indicator as niether a 40, 46 or in my case a 50Sx (which I think is the same as a 46 anyway), fitted I remember crash had to widen his mount same as I did.

I'll post a photo later today

Blue, my Webra 50 drops in without a problem. Just for fun, I will dig out a Magnum (ASP, SC) .46 and try it also.

I spent a couple hours of quality time today smoothing out the wrinkles in the covering. I do not know what brand it is, but it like heat. Lots of it. I started out with my iron on low (150*F), and it only raised a few more wrinkles. Bumped it up to medium (200*F), and it took way too much time going round and round to smooth out a wrinkle. This confused me, as the last ARF (Sig Rascal Forty) only need low-to-medium heat. I took out my monokote gun and tried it out. On high power it did the trick. My laser temp gun read 350*F. I could shrink the covering over the open areas nicely and taking a little extra time over the sheeted areas. I then turned my iron uo to 325-350*F and that did the trick. Smoothed out the wrinkles nicely. Turns the red a darker shade as it gets the heat. It all turned out tight as a drum and looks great.

I opened the hardware bags. Bag #1 had the steel clevises. Bag #2 has the nylon parts, but the feel very stiff, maybe even brittle. I could just toss them and buy some Du-Bro but just for fun I think I will boil them first and see if they soften up. The fuel tank stopper comes already loaded, nice touch. Some of the pushrod linkages are threaded and have nuts pre-installed.

The box that the Pheonix cames in say's it's covered in oracover..which most of their kits are.. I believe this is the stuff known to you guys as ultracoat.. it is also known as profilm over here.. I had to research this for when I get time to put my Diamond dust together.. I dont think you need to get the asp out..if the webra 50 fits then you guys got a correct mount ..ours was just over an inch between bear's I think 1 and 1/16"I had to dremel out a couple of millimeters each side.. I did a lousy job of that too.
but I must admit the ones we got seem to have been covered very well..couldn't fault it..it was smooth all over..well at least we got something good in our versions..lol

we got the same tank and like your's it came with the fittings all done ..even though the manual describes the need to heat the and bend the tubes, but for some reason it was all done

I was looking through the Gallery search here on RCU last night & came across another F20 in OZ. The guy lives in Tamworth, & sure enough it had the same tail set up as ours.

There was a few weird bits in our destructions, & 1 was to put in the hinges for the rudder & elevator, but they were already done & pinned...

I don't want to start the great Monocote VS everything else debate, but that Oracover is great stuff to work with, & I can see why ours were so smooth. I bought some Profilm (Oracover) last week to cover the wing & tail on my S1d Pylon model, & it turned out super smooth, like Kmot said, it needs the heat to work. I have only used an iron on mine & it worked well.

I wouldn't bother with the nylon bits, I would just upgrade them straight away, once bitten twice shy.

My Jett wouldn't come close to fitting in that engine mount, so like Blue's I had to widen the mount out around the rear bearing. I was a bit worried about doing that, but it was one of the few things that stayed together when it hit the ground

Flip on ours that little red covered square bit of wood was to fill the gap in the tail when you fitted the Hoizontal stab in place.

Tony.

If the Webra drops right in, then it looks like I may need to build a new firewall and move it back to hold a 90?

Thanks Cyclic, I seen that red piece that I was wondering about on page 12 like you said. I have still not tried to put it on, whats the point, I've got 3 flights on it now. It does a great knife edge, straight as an arrow. Not sure how much throw I have on the rudder, I'm sure it's more than what the instructions say. The knife edge inside circle is a specialty of mine and this plane does it fabulous. I did notice today that I could use a little more expo on the ailerons. I have it set to 40% now and it is a little choppy.

Landing was interesting today, crosswind at about 10mph and the plane did not want to come down. I was afaid i was going to stall it, it was just flying in place about 15 feet off the ground. I had to make 3 landing attempts, but all came down to a super smooth landing.

The plane is sarting to grow on me now. I found no problems with the servos glitching running the antenna wire totally inside as seen on the previous pic.

Question about servo lead extensions:

If I am looking at this right, then I need four 12"extensions, plus a Y-harness. An extension for each aileron servo (2), an extension for the throttle and nose gear servos (2), and a Y-harness to connect the aileron servos. Will I need a 5th extension for the distance from the Y-harness to the Rx in the tail?

Hi Kmot,
On my one I did need the 5, but our Aussie aircraft are a bit different with the wservo placement.
