I have read all these posts and others and i am in the CCTV / Security business. but i still ordered my camera from the Shulman site.

i just cant be bothered to go through all that "hacking". For the extra $ you get a professional product with a warranty, not a hacked together mess

Dave Stephens

Dave,
You can pay who you want for what you want. If you mean by "Professional" them doing exactly what myself, seanreit, ghostrider, etc. have done then yes it is professional. They are hacking and soldering the same camera everyone else is, but it is your money so spend it how you see fit. Can you please tell me what kind of warranty you get with the camera?

Ghostrider,
Can you please tell me what kind of battery consumption you see from the camera. I was going to hook mine up through my receiver but thought it prudent to use a separate 4 cell battery for the camera. Interested in seeing what you come up with.

I am also working on a micro switch for my camera so I can start and stop the record from a remote location by hand. If I can get that to work then I am mounting a camera under the canopy of my hotspot and just drill a small hole to run the power, usb, and record switch through. I will post pics if I can get the remote switch hooked up.

Patrick.

Patrick

I have not checked into power consumption but I strongly believe that my RX battery should handle it. I am using a high capacity battery for all my airplanes (5 pack cells) and could fly x3 b/4 charging. I will check into the consumption and advice you later. One nice thing about the setup is that you could use a seperate battery source for it. Just plug it into the 5v connector.

I am working on making the camera lense seperate from the setup (remote mount with pigtail) and would post pics as soon as I get it perfected. I fried one yesterday during my test run (lol) but heck I only lost $29.99.

Ghostrider,
Definitely interested in a remote lense setup. I know they have been talking about it on the camer hacking site but I don't think anyone has done it yet.

I did find on the site though how to create a remote record switch by soldering directly to the record switch itself. My hand is not that steady at soldering so I am going to have to enlist the help of a friend who does soldering small components for a living.

Another thing you can put together easily is the LED Lights for you jets. My friend Ben Burdin from Lima Ohio have perfected it and those that attended Hearts Of Ohio Jet Scramble or Spideman Jets at Winamac would attest to how great his system works. Just do an eBay search on 12 cluster bright LED bulbs on eBay and get your soldering iron ready and you could put one together easily. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&fstype=1&catref=C6&from=R10&satitle=12+LED+bulb&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&bs=Search&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=ZIP%2FPostal&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp=

Heck this one is only $10.50 for 2 - 12 WIDE LED LEDS 3156 ULTRA WHITE LIGHT BULB BULBS http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-12-WIDE-LED-LEDS-3156-ULTRA-WHITE-LIGHT-BULB-BULBS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33713QQitemZ8006740036QQrdZ1

About 20 mins. I've modded two of them and have 5 more. They are pretty darn cool.

Patric,
Big respect to you man and others who choose NOT to make money on someone else's idea...
I am a member at camerahacking as well and was pissed big time because of what Shulman did . He also sold few on ebay charged 150 a piece. What a nutsack!
Anyhow, pay respect to BillW for writing Ops,Corscaria and many others as well...The slogan of that forum is " 1 2 many for all"

I was over in the Super Jet South Event thread when I came across a post regarding a micro video camera that David Shulman had in his bandit at the event. I guess there was alot of interest in the micro camera. Well they are selling the camera for 225.00 ready to go.

Well I have one of these cameras and it cost me only 50.00 to put it together. The little micro camera that the Shulman's are selling on their website can be had from CVS Drugstores for the low price of 29.99. You have to open the case of the camera and solder the wires to it to provide power and usb connectivity which should take someone with soldering skills approx 20-30 minutes. The software for downloading the video is shareware and can be had from several sites on the web.

Go to this site and you can read all about how to make the mods to the cameras and where to get the shareware drivers from.

http://camerahacks.10.forumer.com/index.php?c=5

If you want one but don't have a CVS near you let me know and I can pick one of the cameras up and ship it to you for the cost of the camera, shipping and packing materials. I don't want to make money off of this because I have used this forum to increase my knowledge from my fellow modelers and I have had fellow modelers send me things to try out before I buy, not knowing me from adam. So this is my way of returning the favor to you all.

Thanks,

Patrick.
