HI all,

When i saw the price tag from tower hobbies on this tx i was hooked. for 270 $ i had an eight channel PC radio with 4 servos. Unfortunately , it only works with airtronics receivers, is this true? Anyway, do you guys like the tx? Its going to be my second and last radio.

THanks

Sam no it is not true. This Tx features Modulation shift select which will make it compatable with any FM (PPM) Rx, positive or negative shift. One of the few medium priced Tx's on the North American market with this capability that includes Hitec Eclipse or Optic and The Polks Tracker. Airtronics refer to this as Modulation Invert. In regards to PCM there is no interbrand compatability with any of the manufacturers. All the manufactures use propritory coding.

As far a second Radio it will offer many new avenues to explore and is good equipment. As far as your last Radio, There will never be a last radio if you become a survivor. There are no Experts only Survivors

Got an RD8000 for my helicopter and I love it! I put a LED strobe light and micro camera in the 7th and 8th channels which can be turned on and of by switches on the transmitter. Just having a few problems changing into mode 2 with the mechanics at the back, it can be done though. Other than that I recommend this transmitter highly.
I have heard a quite a few people say that the programming and menu layout is not very user friendly but once you get the feel for it after a few days, it seems very organised and simple when you consider the amount of advanced functions this transmitter has.
Cheers

Go for it..I have an RD6000 sport and its a nice radio easy to program the RD8000 is the big brother. It is compatible (in ppm) to all major brand receivers futaba, hitech, jr, polk, berg, etc.

Yes Salomot it will work with that receiver
PPM (pulse something modulation) is what ususally is called FM and the only difference is if the shift encoding pulse is positive or negative Airtronics and Hitec (most models) are shift selectable to be compatible with a range of receivers.. JR and Futaba only "Talk" to their brethren...

PCM (Pulse code modulation) is brand specific since its an algorithm to encode the signal

The link you provided for that Rx is a 50Mhz band Rx. It would function with it if the Tx had a 50 Mhz module and not sure if Airtronics provides that band module for the RD8000. Also 50 Mhz is only for use by lisensed ham operators. If you are not a ham then you would need to stick with the 72 Mhz band for aircraft or 75 for surface use (boats, cars).

If you want to use a Futaba 127 then here is the Tower link for the proper Futaba 127 that will function with the RD8000 on the 72 Mhz aircraft band for unlisensed users. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAKL9&P=RF

SAM for the price you pay That RD8000 can't be beat. One radio will do heli's and planes. Dropped mine twice and no damage. Other radio users have played with the computer features and commented how easy it was. Get One..................

I think it safe to say that any Micro Heli without a transmitter already included the package already (eg: Walkera helis?), this transmitter can be used..
Any micro heli without integrated componets, ie you have all of your servos, gyro and ESC and motor as seperate parts going into a receiver, than this transmitter will do the job, assuming your receiver is compatable with the transmitter. I think that covers most electric micro helicopters anyway.

I just ordered my RD8000 from Tower, $269 with an ad discount of $25 plus $7 shipping gets it to my door for about $252. I've been an Airtronics guy ( Vanguard, Quasar, & Radiant ) for 14 years and all have treated me well. I did purchase a Polks Tracker III but sent it back for a refund when it wouldn't fly my Delta Vortex with elevons and then it started the balony of telling me I couldn't fly channel 37 because it was busy but when my buddy turned his tranny off which was on something like channel 52 I could fly all of a sudden. Polks told me it was normal and I didn't like that answer soooo - waited a couple months - researched other brands - and decided the 8000 was for me. Nice to hear you guys like it. It sure has all I will need for a while.

does it at least have expo on rudder? i know it does not have dual rates but thats fine with me as long as it has expo on rudder. (i fly 3D with monster rudder. my current radio (futaba 6exa) doesn't have this which is why i'm in the market for a new one. also does it have programmable switches?
