Just bought my first gasser, a ZDZ-40 that is already broken in. Anybody have any tips to offer on mixing gas and oil (I've NEVER had to do it before)? how to do it? oil/gas ratio? do you have to remix it up if it has been sitting for a while? If the ratio of gas/oil used is 50:1, is approximately 3oz. of oil correct for 1 gallon of gas? Looking for enlightenment....

I tried mixing 5 gallons at a time and found that the gas seem to loose something after 3-4 months. I then went to WalMart and purchased a syringe to measure my oil. Just fill it up with th correct amount of oil to the gas you are using and you are done! Just don't get gas in the syringe. The gas will eat it.

Is there a chart somewhere that can help me determine ratios of different amounts? I'm probably just being lazy here, but math/calcuations/equations were always my weakest subjects. I have this feeling that I will have a tendency to add more oil than is necessary.

The mixing ratio is usually right on the oil bottle for the most common from 16:1 to 100:1

Or look here:

Go to your local motorcycle shop and purchase a mixing cup called a Ratio rite. With the Ratio Rite you can mix many different ratios ie. 24 to1, 32 to 1, 40 to 1, 50 to 1, to how ever many gallons you wish. It's been used for dirt bikes for 20 some years. check it out.
