My numbers are close to yours Shemp... OS 46FX @ 13.2ozs. plus 3.2ozs. w/bolts for the stock muffler = 16.4ozs. or in my case I use the Performance Specialties muffler @ 3.7ozs. w/bolts. Well 2.51ozs. is much closer than a YS 91 at 11ozs., I guess. The comparison I was drawing was its close when you consider the Saito 91 is 2.51ozs. heavier than an OS46FX. The penalty for the weight is negligible with the power you'll realize as compared to a 46 two-stroke. I'd trade the 2.51ozs. any day of the week... Then again it, would depend on the kind of airframe and flying I expected to see with the model... Ideally all fuel tanks would be installed on CG, regardless of engine type, for obvious reasons... When discussing, relating too or adjusting CG it is understood and assumed the fuel tank is empty. If the tank is not on CG the flight characteristic's will change from the beginning thru the end of the flight... 2oz. the weight of the tank assembly is all that you'll realize when you make comparison CG's mounted at either location. The best you can hope for is to put the tank on CG and then you'll realize 1oz. in front of CG and 1oz. aft of CG. Moving the fuel tanks weight of 2ozs. rearward toward CG from the nose is going to be negligible when there is 11ozs. more in the nose of the model with the YS... There is a ratio used to factor for weight placement on our models. 4:1, what this means is for every oz. I place on the nose of the model I'll be required to add or shift approximately 1/4oz. to the rear of the model. The inverse is true when adding weight to the tail of the model. In my example of 11ozs. computes to 2.75ozs... That's not much but that's at the extreme tailend of the model, not to easily accomplished. Sure some models can and will benefit from a heavy engine. Better to add power than lead... If it was me I'd assemble the model less the engine, install all the gear that cannot be relocated and mock up the model for CG. Then you can make an educated guess at the requirements to balance the model.
