a couple of guys in the club use a few drops of lighter fluid in the carb to help start the engine in cold weather--it sure seems to help the engine fire up but im wondering if doing this could damage the engine or glow plug in any way....thanks ........joe

I would try to prime the engine first. If youstill have trouble, use a drop or 2 of RC fuel.

I do my normal prime with fuel first for lubrication and then prime with lighter fluid in cold weather. I do not use an electric starter and the lighter fluid makes starting possible.

Yes, lighter fluid will work without any negative effects on your engine. Prime your engine first, to get it wet so some lubrication is in there (not too much). Put a few drops of lighter fluid down the carb, (again not too much) and either flip or electric start it.
It is important not to over prime or to use too much lighter fluid, as too much will hydrolic lock your engine and you could damage it.
Another winter starting trick is to bump up to the next higher nitro fuel (ex: going from 10% to 15%) OR going to a hotter glow plug.

Hope this helps
