I have to agree with you there. It was a nice evening. It was a real treat seeing the P-40 and Mark's Albatross flying.
I tried to take a couple of video clips, but they did not come out well at all.
Here are a FSA pics. George came by with his Wife the other day. I am sure many of you have heard him mention her. She is a very nice lady. Enjoy the pics

Saturday afternoon was a gem, if you weren't there, you missed perfect conditions. I was happy to get the P-47 back out after its last flight in October '06. She needed a bit of work to get ready for the day including new fuel tank, new fuel line, new batteries, switches, gear door repair and adjustment to the retract system. In addition, I switched over to the 2.4 system. First take-off attempt was less than graceful, ended up on the nose due to wet grass, nose heavy condition from the new larger fuel tank and not enough elevator throw with that corrected everything went perfect, three flights down, it sure is nice to be back flying WWII fighters ! The Mustang is next followed by the P-40. Hope to have them ready for the show. I'll have those three, the Cub, the DVII and my latest addition (1 to 1 scale model)

Mark's not telling any fibs, that Albatross flew beautifully nice piece of work there sir......

Sam- did you get any good pics ?

Cheers,

Mike

Next time tell him to take that damn tie off - NO TIES ALLOWED AT THE FIELD !

BTW- George's plane is now functioning properly, the deadsticks appear to have been a result of an improper mate of the ignition harness connector and its switch. Might come by tonight with the DvII.

MT

Its a P-47

If MT could mount that jet powered wing on the back of his MINI Cooper it would be like Chiti Chiti Bang Bang at 186 MPH. OMG what a ride.

I'm not flying this thing. I want it to last more than 4 sec. I need to do a range check still. My checkoff list is getting smaller. I'm thinking of asking Kirk to maiden it for me. He has maidened all of my other planes and I see no reason to change a good thing. I still need to set the needles.

You're gonna love your cub once you get it up.

On takes offs take a couple deep breaths and chant "Do not gun it do not gun it....start slow" That will stop you from doing figure eights on the runway. Took me a while to understand that concept with mine.

There is a guy in Texas ? that has modified a MINI with a small heli turbine in the boot, it runs in the 11's with both powerplants running but is speed limited to 135. Not sure you would really want to go more than 140-150 in one
