I found this article while searching for hovercraft in popularmechanics.com boating .
I don't know if anyone's done anything like this "wing in ground effect" or WIG, craft but it would be nice

Max,
Thanks for the article. My son asked me "Dad could you get that for me"

Ha Ha! I'm famous - almost. That article in PM is about my uncle. I've flown his full scale hovercrafts quite abit, but never his WIG. He has offered to let me, but I never did take him up on it. He is also into RC and has an RC version of the WIG. It doesn't look anything like his full scale one. It's pretty hard to explain how it looks, I'll have to get some pics of it next time I see him.

BTW, the green is a sad excuse for lettuce. i need some enthusiasm here. everybody wants flying hamburgers, show it people!
i'm serious though. would anybody buy something like this, provided the lettuce looked a bit more like lettuce?

Actually it was "Gravityisnotmyfriend" that has the wonderful uncle

So will your son be seen low flying soon? hahaha

to Gravityisnotmyfriend:
Must be great visiting someone like that. I would like to see some pictures. I guess this may not actually fit under the sort of craft that 3D Nut makes, but it's such a facinating thing.

I could ( and now that I think of it probably will) start a whole new thread about that uncle and his twin brother (who obviously is also my uncle ) on this forum. Those two guys are most responsible for getting me into this hobby. They scratch build all their own planes and rarely build a conventional craft. They designed what they call the "square plane" probably 40 yrs ago. Unless I'm proven otherwise, it's probably the first PBF. I apologize for skewing this thread off subject. I'm going to get some photos of each of their fleets and start a new thread.

3Dnut,
lol. i would not mind at all. i might want to fix up the "lettuce" in the front a little bit, and change the tail on the burger around so it does not look quite so much like a p-38 tail, or at least less fake..
