Hi,

I've had a few inquiries lately about this question. The answer is YES, I am always willing to 'help out' on import duties/Value Added Taxes and other such governmental horseshite for my overseas customers. If you have questions about this, call or email me DIRECTLY.

Value Added Tax is the biggest scam a government has introduced I feel sorry for my fellow Brits having to pay 17.5% VAT, atleast i do not have to pay that anymore, just one of the things i love about living in The U.S I would never move back to britain

Don't get too excited yet, they are trying to institute it here also.

And our 4.5 % sales tax is not like the VAT? Plus we get taxed for everything but air. I just want to get some thing for my money and I understand services cost

Born free taxed to death.

Hi,

I live in Denmark and a few times I have ordered items from US.
If I make an order at let's say 100 $ at in example Tower Hobbies, then
I will be charged about 30 $ in p&p by Tower . The price is now 130 $.
When I recieve my package in Denmark from US, then I have to pay 25 % in VAT
and 12,5 % in import tax of the total price in US (order price an p&p). This ads
48 $ to the price, so total price for me is then 178 $. Thats a scam !!!

Hi Troels,
Jeez, and I thought we had it bad here in the U.K... 4% Duty on the goods then 17.5% VAT on top of everything (goods + P&P) and then usually another £10 (~$20) 'Clearance Fee'. If I think of buying anything from the States then I multiply the goods + shipping by 1.3 to get a 'worst case scenario' price. Sometimes smaller packages get through untaxed though

Steve

In the good old days, I used to get DHL to pick up my RC goodies from around the world and deliver it directly to my desk at the office... the next day!
No Taxes, Customs, waiting or BS! Unfortunately, the days of 24 hour delivery are sadly gone. Now you're looking a 3 day express plan, a pile of paper work, fees, charges, declarations and a wooping big invoice from the customs office for their dedicated service to the state.
The only way to deal with the problem is to find a proffessional, international dealer and get the invoice made out for a great deal less... which brings us back to the original post!

while we are on the subject--how much for a wing set for the 88"spit, and a front undercowl ?? shipped to the UK---its a shame to have the remnants of the crash sitting doing nothing, for the want of a wing
thanks, ALAN

Troels,
Was just curious, how are the taxes handled if you pickup stuff on vacation or business in the US. Do you still have to pay all those taxes when you get home?

Scam? A better word is protectionism or tarrif.

A good definition of SCAM is trying to get your VAT back, for those of us who are not from those countries!

Alanc

The wing kit is $305, the chin cowl is $30, and shipping to the UK is probably around $100 (ouch) because it's too big to go postal. Hope this helps.....

Hi Edwin.
The rules are the same if I'm coming home to Denmark from a non-EU country.
Then I have to decide if I'm willing to take the risk and not declare what I have
brought home. If I'm lucky I'll get through, but if I'm not, then I'll be charged for
VAT, import tax plus quite a large fee. I don't know how much, I haven't tried it.
