Finished the Tailwheel installation with one minor flaw. The material where the assembly mounts has some composite material on top of the balsa support. If your drilling a hole in this spot to accept a MK tailwheel start drilling with a smaller bit at first as to not cause the composite to crack and chip away like mine did !!! Now dont get me wrong....this is a very minor chip, and wont be able to be seen when it's sitting on the ground (although the close up shot I got of it makes it look HUGE !! )
Also mounted my rudder servo, and have drilled my rudder cable exit holes. It's getting close to time for me to order my Batteries / Balances & Chargers anyone got some suggestions for suppliers ?? Best prices I've seen on the TP5300-5S4PV is $302.95 @ Draganfly Parts Wharehouse..

Bill I'm very impressed with what your doing. It's refreshing to see someone so honest about your little BOO BOO's. I'd also like to say excellent for an IMAC guy LOL no I'm just joking, don't anyone come on and honk my horn for it. Wish I still flew out of the Houston area so I could meet you, but that was a long time ago, yes one of my great memories is the Sequin Nat's ( 83 I think) seems like a million years ago, maybe see you at the Nat's this year. Still think that the way to go on charger and balancer is the Thunder power if they ever come out, do a whole set of bat's at one time, I planning on getting 2- TP 1010 Charger's and 2- TP 210 balancer's and think I can do everything with 2 set's of batteries. Nope they don't sponser old farts that can barely fly. Keep it coming, and the very best of luck to you. Steve Maxwell

Steve,
Thanks so much for the Kind words.
83 in Seguin is absolutely correct. I was there myself flying CL combat. I was 19 and it was my last year in the hobby until 98 when I started flying RC. I appreciate the hobby much more now that it helps keep my sanity away from work !!!
The IMAC remark is hysterical !! Most of my buddies think I'm absolutely Whacko right now, but I just cant seem to get through to them, that Aerobatics and the love of the pattern has no boundaries. So you can bet I'll be at the Nat's ( and have been for the last 5 years ) Weather I'll be flying IMAC or Pattern (or both) is yet to be determined !!
Thanks for the suggestions on the Power Systems stuff........I'll need to start thinking about ordering that stuff later this week.

Well , I got home from work this evening and had 2 small boxes waiting for me. My carbon fiber (PBG) wing tube, and my aileron servos and receiver. Stab tube should be here tomorrow or the next day. The difference in the tubes is huge if your counting grams like I am.
Aluminum Tube = 102 grams Carbon Tube = 47 grams
I don't imagine the stab tube will make nearly as big of difference in weight, but will still impact the CG quite a bit.
So since I now have the Aileron servos, we might as well finish off the wings. I'm going with a 9411SA on the ailerons for the speed and the weight savings. The servo bays in the wings come covered over, and upon opening them up, you have a fully sheeted balsa box that is slightly oversized for a standard sized servo. All that is left to be done is to drop in some servo rails, and mount the equipment. I did need a "6 servo extension that when pulled all the way through the wing gives me about 1" outside of the root rib. The nice thing about the extra room in the servo box is that you can move the servo and actually line it up and get the right geometry before everything is installed and in place. I used 3" Hangar 9 titanium turnbuckels as they are actually lighter than the carbon rods with titanium end, and they are way easier to adjust !!! :-)
Final weight on each completed Wing Half is 412 grams or 14.5 ounces.
Ok....Pictures Added !!! :-)
-Bill

So aluminum is 4.08 oz and CF is 1.88oz,, I would say thats a big difference....
I emailed them the other day and they didnt respond. I called tonite and left a message hopefully they will call back tomorrow. Nights makes it difficult to get much done.

Well, not much to report tonight in the way of progress. As soon as I finish stringing the pull pull setup, I'll pace my antennae tube and mount the rest of my radio stuff, and then I just need to Purchase the batteries, and mount the Engine and Speed controller, and the Gear, and we'll be pretty much ready to go. I guess I could start working on my airflow (baffling and air exit hole) but I'd rather wait on that stuff till the very end.

Again...just minimal progress tonight. My stab tube was waiting for me when I got home, and as it comes, it's about 20" in length, and the aluminum tube is just a hair over 10" which means I was able to cut it in half and make 2 stab tubes. It's about half the weight of the aluminum tube just as the wing tube was.
I also finally got the gear mounted correctly and installed the wheel pants as well. I started with the NMP 3/4 inch axels, but found out that there wasn't enough room for the pants, so I switched to the longer axels with the double notch for the "c" clamp. (you got the right one's Mike !!!) :-)

Whatcha gonna do with that other half of the stab tube?? Truth,, DA told me to call you cause they were out of the stab tubes.. Im just teasing about what you are going to do with it though, I just couldnt resist the chance to bring it up.
Cool, you mean I finally got it right on the 1st try!! GREAT! So far I have reordered the Rudder horn, tailwheel; rod ends and I know Im missing something(s) else. Im switching to the same tailwheel as you have. I recognized it when
