I picked up a Colombo Anderson 27% 300L on RCU this summer for $190.00. Just could not pass that up . It is one of the original kits and had the wing tube that was not cut right, but it's still an incredible kit. I'll be putting this together for the next few months. Here is a couple of pics of the first few steps.

rcblimppro,
Looks like pre-flight photos. How much flight time do you have on it now? How is that DA running?

What is wrong with the wing tube? Are you talking too short or the foam cores are cut wrong? Well I will tell you for the short tube I got an extra piece from Gator RC for the fuse. As for the wings, don't know if people didn't think of it or mine was the only one but they were cut upsidedown. In other words I just had to flip the cores and I had the correct taper of the top (flat) and bottom. Then I just adjusted the ply root rib for the new cut out locations and built normally from there.
Good luck it is a great flyer.

Scott,
The tube that gets glued into the fuse is too short. I think they want us to cut it in half and then just glue it to the outer sides. I just cut another piece and glued it to the short piece. I use it as part of a tank plate mount.

I know the 31%er flys great. I put two flights on mine before something went wrong. But the two flights got me hooked on these models.

I've put some extra brasing on the engine box/landing gear area while its easy to get too.

Next is gluing in the formers and adding some 6 x 6 brases to the formers. Then adding the bottom stringers.

Yea they fly great. I let a buddy of mine try the 27% and then a 34% came up for sale cheap, he bought it. I get to build it for him this winter. Should go quick that's for sure.

As of right now I must have about 100 flights on it. All the radio gear and engine were new with this airplane. The DA 150 is an absolute animal. While I have not put a tach on the engine it pulls the airplane vertical forever. I got a BME wood prop for break in, painted it white and have been using it ever sense. It was recently compared side by side to a Mej 32X10 and the BME is an exact copy but in wood. I am currently using penzoil air cooled oil at 60:1 and the engine loves it. The 8611 servos feel just as tight as they did on day one. I am using a Smart fly power expander and have been very happy with it. One thing I would highly recomend to anyone cuilding a CA kit is to sand the leading edges fairply sharp to aid in snapping manuvers. Mine came out nose heavy as well as a few others that I have spoken to so I took the kit cowl and made a mold from it. The Fiberglass and carbon cowls that I made for mine came out 4 oz lighter than the stock. That allowed me to run one of my Titanium Series tailgears without having to add weight in the tail. All up weight on the one pictured is 34 3/4 pounds. At the recent Southwestern IMAC regionals in Vegas I placed 5th in Advaced using this airplane.

Eric,
I don't have the controle surfaces cut yet. I have to do the elevators next. The fuse is almost done.
