Status: offline 		I bought some Power Master GMA stunt fuel, but am not going to use it in my old engines. It has a 50/50 blend. 11% castor and 11% syn. I'll try it something else that is newer. Tough to find the 29% all castor fuel they sell.

Going to get some SIG 25% all castor fuel as well as a quart of their Castor oil. Also appears that the 25% nitro SIG fuel 50/50 blend is the way to go for the 1/2A engines.

Status: online 		Auger1, nice RC Ringmaster. If I remember correctly, Sterling had a Super Ringmaster that was for Radio Control. I envy you, would love to have one of those. The guys at the Controline field here would get a great chuckle out of it. One of the guys here fly a 133% CL Ringmaster profile and it flies great.

I've been flying a beater Flight Streak with a Fox 35 and just having a blast with it. It's been a nice re-aquaintence with Controline. Also good to see my Chicagoland controline buddies again. Still want to do RC, but Controline is one of my roots. I'm having good feelings about being back in the groove.

Sterling Ringmasters that I had, still good memories.

I just got a RC Ringmaster ARF from Epay.
By todays standards, it's not an ARF but a ARC, almost ready to cover. Sterling only made these for a few years. Pre-fabbed in Hong Kong and packaged in Philly. It has the classic Ringmaster tail group and wing shape, but has a typical built-up box fuse and tri-gear. I think I'll have to make her into a tail dragger.

Status: offline 		FWIW, pure castor oil can often be obtained locally at medical supply houses. I used to mix my own fuel back in the 70's and would buy it by the gallon there fairly inexpensively. A 5gal can of methanol from a local chemical supply house should be in the $45-50 range these days (more if it has to be shipped due to HazMat fees)

The med supply places are also good for finding those large irrigation syringes we can use for fueling...and for finding surgical tubing that can be used for pressure bladders in combat models.

I recently checked the prices on nitro by the 5gal can and it was harsh -- $200+...but its always been harsh. Even in the 70's it was in the $40-50/gal range.

Still, if a few people get together, I think there are significant saving to be had in mixing your own stuff buying the methanol and nitro by the 5gal can.

That got me thinking... how many of you would be interested in a Ringmaster ARF? I emailed Estes asking to purchase the rights to Sterling's CL models. They have not replied but who knows...

Status: online 		I think it's a good idea, if it could be kept at the Flite Streak price level. MonoKote covered please. I think it's around $50. Even rekitted at a good price might be interesting. If anyone ever does ARF it, restricting the elevator travel should be addressed. The original has excessive travel. I like the Ringmaster, even had a blast with Baby Ringmaster once. The ultimate problem I think you have is, what is the market ability of such an ARF. Tough one to answer. But with a modern .25, could be a good plane to have. I'm groovin to my old Flite Streak. Nothing special, but fun to re acquaint myself to CL.

Status: offline 		Email isn't usually the surest way to contact a company with a proposition such as yours. These somewhat unique topics are usually handled by upper management, and even at the smaller companies, those guys don't spend a lot of time dealing with email.

You need to call and find out who to contact. And ask for his extension or how he'd like to be contacted with a serious business offer. Emails can be whipped out by anyone. And they're no indication of your ability to pay or your stature as a businessman. Matter of fact, they do indicate something to the recipient.

Status: offline 		This is pretty amazing to see this much interest about the Ringmaster on RC Universe. I am a pattern and pylon guy who also flies control line stunt. My buddy Dee Rice and I started an organization devoted to the Ringmaster. If you guys are interested in more information, go to brotherhoodofthering.info This is the website for the group. It's kinda rudimentary, but it has a pretty big following. Also you can email me directly for more info. Dee and I along with a bunch of guys in Texas fly Ringmasters all the time. We also have a contest devoted to the design. The second annual Ringmaster Roundup will be held in Houston in late spring. Also, Dee has nominated the Ringmaster designer Matt Kania to the AMA hall of fame. He will be inducted soon. Anyway, if you laike Ringmasters, look us up.

cutaway, Estes bought the rights from Sterling and produced it for awhile. They produced both the original (kit S1) and the "improved" version, the S1-A. The S1 is eligible to compete in the Old Time Stunt (OTS) CL event, but the S1-A is not (modified after the OTS cut-off date.

Check the previous page and you will see that Bob Furr is trying to buy it from Estes.

Status: offline 		Didn't want to start a thread for a simple question, I just reworked an old Ringmaster Junior w/electric and added landing gear. Can anyone tell me where the CG is supposed to be located? Right now it's at the leading edge, but I can move the battery around to adjust it.

Status: online 		If you want it real stable, fly it with the CG at the leading edge. For more aerobatic ability, you can go as far back as the spar. If it were me, I start somewhere in between for starters.

Status: online 		Yeah, I can remember back to my high school days when I built my first Ringmaster. Besides the cutie that sat next to me in study hall, it's all I could think about. It was a pretty cool model. Nothing wrong with a Ringmaster. Even better when you incorporate some enhancements.
