you could probably fit a smoke tank up in the nose. I was planning on putting one in myself. I just want to get some more flight time in first. As for the videos I am hoping Mark will put some up on aeroworks website soon.

Hey guys, if you have just built or building your Edge - make sure you get the kit to strengthen the fuse at the wing. On a hard landing, mine broke in half with Saito 82. Aero was good enough to send the kit unsolicited (one day after it broke) and no charge. It was easy to go back together but if you examine the joiners in the fuse at the leading edge of the wing, you'll see there is not much balsa holding things together. Since the kit was installed, no problems, even with the not so perfect landings. This is a nose heavy bird - with the CG at recommended 2.75", I had to put 2 oz upfront with a 1200 battery next to the fuel tank. Mine came in at 6.5 lbs. I'm slowing removing the front weights moving the CG back.

This is the sweetest plane I have yet flown and of the best quality (except the above issue). Rocco says there is a new bird on the design board that will be better than the QQ Yak - can't wait.

Anyone out there using the Saito 82 on the Edge?? What props are you using and what results???

Ted sorry to hear about your little mishap with the edge. Kim at aeroworks told me that any edge sold at the present time would already have the doubler added in. I guess i was one of the lucky ones that got the extra parts before i flew mine. I am shocked at the weight of yours because mine came out a little under 6.5 pounds with a saito 100 in it. I was gonna use my saito 82 but i love to over power my planes. And just like you I agree this is the best plane i have ever flown. I also heard the rumor of a 90 sized yak coming out this spring. Guess i will have to wait untill the toledo show to see it. But by the time it comes out i will just be getting the edge broke in.

I think I uploaded some pix. Batterys in camera went dead before flew.

Saito .91. 6.1 lbs. 15x4W apc. Flew very light. Need to move the weight back to my liking. Pulled a little to belly in KE. Need bigger wheels for grass.

Plastic spinner self distructed on first start up. Have more info and Videos later.

Thanks, I can't wait to get it put together. Hey cmircman, do you have to watch your speed with this plane? Will it break if flown to roughly or hard especially with the Saito 100? Are there any flutter problems? Thanks... Let me know how your flight went, and have you heard anything about a video yet...??? See Ya...

With the saito 100 i would recomend throttle management. It flies great wide open but you know after a while something is going to give, especially being overpowered. This is a very strong plane. I have experienced no problems with flutter so far. I had a F90 and that was one of the things i hated about it. I got one flight in this weekend. All i can say is WOW. I love this plane!

If you go to the Aeroworks site, you can download the manual and it shows you with pictures where to put them. Here is the link: http://aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=75
Go towards the bottom of the page. Hope this helps...

I would have taken some pix of mine but I have't gotten a chance to start building it yet other than CAing the ailerons and going over the surface with an iron. My better half isn't ready to give up the living room yet for me to go any further in the building process. I can't wait to get out of this apartment, I NEED A HOUSE with a garage/workshop!!! Hopefully withing a year or so I will have a house, I am sure some of you guys can feel my pain... he he he... Take care.

Here are the Fuse Doubler and Control Throws addendums I just received from Rocco at Aeroworks yesterday. They are not in the manual, and not available on the website for download.

Cheers.

Thanks see_e_oh, I am sure this will help out the people who didn't receive them with their planes. They must be shipping the addendum out with the new planes as these printouts were in my manual already, but the ones you sent here are much clearer as they are an adobe file instead of a printout. Thanks...

Isnt this funny!!!!!!!!!! I had the earlier version of this plane and only had 10 flight on it and the fuse broke in half while taxiing exactly where the new fuse doublers for this plane go. I was told by aeroworks that there was not a problem with this design and to watch the video to see how strong the plane is.

Aeroworks made no attempt to give me a replacement or even a discount towards a new plane, they pretty much said it was my fault.

Now they have a doubler kit and a new design? I guess there was a problem with the design! I guess I was one of the Guinea pigs for Aeroworks R&D

Take a look at the thread and the pics. I sure hope you all have better luck with Aeroworks than I did. Check out the thread. and pics

edgeguy I have read your previous thread(even before i purchased my plane). It did almost make me not buy one of these planes. It is always sad to hear when someone has bad luck with a plane. On the other hand a club member has one of the earlier versions of this plane and flys it very frequently. He has had no problems with his. Maybe you did get a bad plane and everyone knows that no matter who the manufacturer is there are going to be a few bad planes. What puzzles me is from reading your thread and with the customer service i have received from aeroworks something does not add up. You even stated that this is a new design. The newer version comes from a different factory. So i would expect a few problems, but so far aeroworks has gone out of their way to take care of me. I have no complaints. I had a bad experience with a funtanna 90, but i did not go to the funtanna threads and start complaining about my experience. Just my 2 cents

If your looking for a bigger tank I used a world models 380cc tank. With the saito 100 i am getting about 15 minutes of flight time with the motor running sloppy rich. It is going to take some modifying to put it in though.

Yes I had to enlarge the cradle for the fuel tank and I added some extra braces for good measure.

cmircman - Do you have pix of the mods you had to make to the cradle for the bigger tank? Thanks...

cmircman, the point I am making is Aeroworks knew about the weak fuse a year ago and did not do a thing about it until now. From what I can see the fuse on the old and new planes are the same or very close to the same the only diffenence in the 2 designs is the wing span and tail feathers are a little bigger on the new plane. The people at Aeroworks were rude to me on the phone and acted like I did not have a clue about anything and did not offer to replace the plane or replace the fuse. I understand they were going through a major shake up at the time but that is no excuse in my opinion.

I also purchased an Edge 60/90 from Aeroworks when these planes were first available and on the very first flight the right side of the horizontal stabilizer broke right off, luckily I landed it without any more damage. I called Aeroworks and Kevin promptly sent me new tail feathers and even offered a new plane free of charge. I just needed the tail feathers so that is the route I went at that time. Then a week later Aeroworks had on the web site and in the new kits for the plane an update to use flying wires on the tail.

I had great customer service from Kevin at Aeroworks on my first plane and no customer service on my second plane. I believe Aeroworks needs to do more R&D and testing on new designs before they are sent out to the public but that is just my opinion because I have had 2 planes and 2 disasters from Aeroworks.

Maybe Aeroworks is changing for the better. I sure hope so for all the people who purchase Aeroworks products.

I called and talked to Kim about coming up to pick up one of these. (I wasn't able to make it on Friday but I still am going to get one.) Coming from electrics I had a lot of questions. Clearly I don't know much and have a lot to learn. Kim was very nice and patient with all of my newbie questions. (It has been a long long time since I did nitro and that was near sea level.) For me the customer service, even before I have even done business with them, is excellent!

Does anyone have video of this plane doing some 3D or even basic Aerobatics, I want a small plane for a OS 91 and I am looking for planes that are built light and strong and the Fliton Extra and this plane look like a good deal i have seen video of the fliton doing 3D and not seen any video of aeroworks edge.

It just broke in half while taxiing? It would have had to have been cracked before you taxied in my opinion. It's surprising you didn't discover this while setting up the plane. I think AW must have been baffled by the story. That being said, I guess they should have given you the benefit of the doubt especially on a somewhat inexpensive plane like this.

Seems it would have been quite simple to repair this though.....why not just make a doubler yourself and fix it up?
