Status: offline 		I know you want a more solid answer, but i have lost 2-3 planes in my life from going for 1 last flight.. I think it hurts nothing to be safe and fly another day..So i definatly wouldnt do it till you have solid confirmation..

I since purchased an Extreme Flight 50cc yak -dle 55-7955tg's and some A123 batteries..Its already to go now except the installation of the engine.
Im very much looking for ward to it, but I am also looking Forward to getting another AW edge" I really Miss Mine"
Plus need to get my fingers moving a bit again on the plane i loved for a couple years, before diving into my first gasser!
This time i think ill go with balljoints all arround a little better servos and a bit more radio mixing that i have become more and more familiar with over this last year..
I think im going to like my replacement Awedge more than my first)
Probally gonna go saito .91 -I had magnum .91 first time, and now i have a saito lying arround in a splintered big stick..But i dont think any engine dmg was done.

Good to see some activity here. I was actually working on mine when it got the notification. I was changing the gears in the Hitec hs-5645 to gears for the hs-5625 to get a bit more speed. The bearings for the servos I ordered weren't needed as the old ones came out easily and are not as high of quality as the Hitec bearings. Plus some computer involved with getting the parts must be hacked since my debit card started developing charges from places I've never been. I'm starting to think I'll put it back the way it was

Oddly enough i have never been in a servo. guess i never had any reason to, because i was always using 10 dollar servos..
Mostly the High torq Mg digital servo from china for 10 DOLLA. Actually other than 1 nice highspeed servo i had in my edges throttle ive never owned an expensive servo until now.And its to put in my 50cc..
I think like i said before though, this time arround on my replacement edge! " Since mine flew away and didnt come back" Im not gonna skimp on servos so much..See how much i like the results.I believe as my skills have improved much recently I will notice the difference much more than i might would have back then.Just because of the more aggressive flying style..

Actually i noticed at http://www.rcaircraftcomponents.com/
They have hitec 7955's for like 30 dollars less than most places, and i havnt priced Savox servos else where but they seem to be a bit cheaper than the hitecs and i have read some nice things about them.
Any experience with Savox servos? And if so mayb a suggestion on a which exacts? would be nice for the edge keeping price down as much as possible But yet not trying to skimp- yah know!
Im sure theres a point where kick in- Compared to what you spend/need for this size plane.

Status: offline 		go for savox. great feed back on them and great specs too. they seem to be one of the few who made servos for spektrum (a6030) and cover the "in between power / speed market' that hitec and jr won't.

Status: offline 		I'm using a pair of 49 oz/in small servos on the rudder & elevator of my 3hds 47" extra 300shp. I haven't had any problems. I used the recommended HITECs and in a 12 mph gust, the rudder servo stripped when it hit the ground and the elevator servo failed in-flight causing the crash. The two SAVOX I have now are larger then the recommended, but they've taken 12-13 mph gusts 6 times now without a failure! The HITECS that failed were HS-65MG servos and I've lost 5 of them now, 3 without a rough landing or hitting the ground.
I just lost a new HS-311 used for a throttle on a .46 size plane on the maiden flight! So... guess who's thinking of not using so many HITEC servos now.

If I go for something really large, I would seriously look at SAVOX. I'm considering them right now for a .90 project I'm thinking of purchasing.

Status: offline 		Yeah most im sure are overkill in torq, And being coreless and Tg - thats more of a gasser stop really at valleyview..but cant beet the prices, my hitecs were 30-40 cheaper per servo there. they may have lower line savox servos out there that would be realy price friendly and a great servo.."So they say"

Status: offline 		I have an O.S. .55 AX in mine spinning an 11x7 which gives it plenty of speed but not enough torque for vertical. I initially tried a 12x8 and it was so slow it barely got off the ground. What do you suggest i use if i cant get a Saito 100 soon?

Status: offline 		I flew it on a magnum .91 - was cheap - dependable and alot of fun. A matter of fact after initial tuning i didnt touch the needles for 2 years and it started first flip after choking every time..Power was a little so so to me at first on a 14x6 then i went to a 16x4w and it actually became a little faster and a hell of alot more pull and vertical power.Was hovering and harriers were pretty stable with this.. Then i switched the vess 15 x6 wood prop and increased speed quite a bit , lost a hair bit of pull but not much really and spooled up alot better than the 16x4w did.Over all the magnum with the Vess prop was a blast..I also did a xoar wood prop, didnt have near the pull but got pretty quick for my taste on the edge

If i had it all to do over again, And i do considering i just ordered a new airframe)
I think i will go with the saito 100 as well conisdering i think it weighs no more than my magnum 91 - mayb less!
But if money doesnt allow me and i wouldnt hesitate to order another magnum 91 for this it may even be very well whats going to happen , Ive been throwing alot of money into a a gasser plane

Status: offline 		Originally built mine with a 65AX which was just adequate with the right prop.  Have since re-engined with a Saito 82.  Better sound, better vertical, but still not quite there.  Saito 100 would be the ticket with this frame in my opinion.

Status: offline 		Not sure what's going on with rcuniverse, but I quit getting email sabout this thread getting replies.

Update on changing the servo gears: It was easy and the bearings came right off. The increased speed was worth it too, it hovers very nice now.

EDIT: Looking at the OS 95V, I think I'd stay with the Saito being that it is lighter, very well proven, and more powerful than the OS. I also don't like the gear train in the OS 4-strokes. I know it may work fine, but such gears are to be avoided IMO. Now the tappets don't even run in line with the pushrods. I understand that for OS'es other engines it was worth the complex gears and putting endloads on the camshaft to neatly line everything up, but this seems like an ugly design to me.
