I'm trying to find myself a little fatty for next season. Is the small AeroWorks plane all it's cracked up to be? Does it weigh what they say?

I had one of the first AW Edge 540T 60-90 planes, and really didn't care much for it. It was way heavier than the ads of the day, but otherwise OK I guess.

If the AW plane isn't "all that", what little fatty is out there that you do like?

Please don't say Funtana 40.

I'd like 6 poundsish...
Nice big wing...
Scale type of plane, no U-Should-Try 3D planes...
Arf preferred, but I can build too...

Flitton Extra 330s FreeStyle. 720in of wing area and 5.5 to 6.5 pounds Best 60" scale plane that I know of -- very capable of 3D & IMAC.

See this web page for a couple KE film clips.

I just put one together for a friend and he put 3 flights on it the other day. Weather has not been the greatest here. It has a YS 91 for power. I cut the engine box down an inch to install that motor. Ballance was right on the money for aerobatics, (just behind recomended). At 5600 ele. the plane has very good verticle performance out of a hover and the plane tumbles very well. It will do nice torque rolls and waterfalls. It also does knife-edge loops very well, and lands nicely also. Thats about all I can tell you for now. Don't know the weight yet.

I saw one at Rocco's shop. I'm not one for Edges, but it is an impressive little plane.

Twister I have been flying our prototype for about 2 mounths know and all I have to say is wow. The plane flys very light wich makes since being that its only 6#'s with a .91. This weight is not at all falseified there are know about 3or4 of our edges where we fly and all are coming in at 6#'s or vary close. The quality is amazing and the build time is so fast. We where planing on just calling it an arf but after building a few and talking to our customers who have built them we decided a new name was needed to describe how easy it was wich is why we are calling them ARFQB's the QB stands for quick build which believe me is not just an advertizing gimic but pure fact. Trust me if you decide on this plane you will not be disappointed.

How are harriers and elevators both upright and inverted? How about knife edge coupling/tendencies? I'm very interested in this plane and have a Saito .82 looking for a home. I'm dying to see some video of it.

Both are vary stable and as far as coupiling goes there isnt even enough to trim out. I can do knifeedge circles all day long in any deirection and the plane is rock solid no matter what I do. It is by far one of the better .40 size plans Ive flown.

I just received mine last week. Wow is right when it comes to this bird. Best quality ARF I have ever seen. I have a Saito 100 going in mine.

I will post video when I get it flying.

MustagAce how is the build going? I almost have mine together. I am going to maiden mine with a saito 82 and probably go to the saito 100. I just like to overpower all of my planes.

I have not really heard any great things coming out of the aeroworks edge in this size range. Get your self a fliton extra 330 freestyle. I am a profile guy myself but this plane is hard to put up at the end of the day. It will hang in there with the EF Yak. The Yak is ahead but its by a SMALL margin. ONLY $200 and its in stock, with Composite gear and CF wing tube. Other than this maybe you want to look towards the powerline Edge, I have seen great videos of that one.
Or do what I did, buy a hybrid and get the best of both worlds

This Edge is so new that not many people have even flown it yet. The Specs show that this edge blows the competition away.

Fliton Extra 330s 59 3/4 in wingspan. 635sq in. wing 6.5lbs electric powered

New Aeroworks Edge 540T 46-60 60in wing 693 sq in. 6.0 lbs Saito 100 powered

nope sorry I will stay with my aeroworks edge. I love how this plane goes together. This is one of the best arf kits i have ever owned. Besides i like to be different ever since i read on here how good the F90 is. Sure it flys great if you can keep it together. Besides aeroworks customer service has been great! I had a few questions for them and they were more than willing to help out, unlike some of the bigger companies i have had the pleasure to deal with. But if you are happy with the plane you have, that is all that matters. As of right now I am sold on aeroworks!

Oh by the way MustangAce I decided to just go with the saito 100. This thing should rocket out of a hover with it!!

Just fininshed glueing the wing together. Probably the best one I have done so far. Can't wait to get it in the air.

You're right, customer service is awesome.

I got mine put together 2 weeks ago...I only have Saito 72 with 14x3.75 prop for power...that's what I had available laying on the shelf ...It could use more power (maybe WildCat 30% heli fuel will do the trick) but it flies very smooth and straight...still have to do some CG tweaking but I could not fly it this week...My LHS called and said not to fly it until some fix comes in and gets installed...They did not know what the problem was...I emailed Aeroworks yesterday but nothing back yet..So I don't know...just waiting for now.

Can you measure the length of the mount. that definatly looks like the problem if thats the case we can send you a new one. call the shop tomorrow tell them that you talked to mark and give them the measurments and hopefully that will be the problem and we can get you a new one asap. I apologize for the inconvienience.

last but not least. Notice the contact of carb bolt with mount bolt at firewall (vibration damage if mounted this way) Also this goes against recommendations of "not more than 4 3/4 in from firewall to thrust washer" (for cowling spacing) Like this it would be at 5 3/16 in.

MustangAce did you put a bigger fuel tank in yet? I do not think the one that comes with it will last long with that saito 100. I have not yet mounted my saito. Now i gotta look and see if i got the same problem as you.
