Default Red October propulsion, for an RC sub

Ok, i bet if you hang in the sub forum, youve seen "The Hunt For Red October", now youll remember how the typhoon had a secret propulsion system, sorta like a ramjet -for water. but I doubt thats really possible so scrap that, but what if i put a JET DRIVE in an engel typhoon, along with the opening and closing doors!! that would be awsome, and Im pretty sure i could pull it off, and it would be the total movie effect. hell, if i want the effect of hot water coming out the back (it looks sorta like the disturbance you see above a fire or somehting) then i can even hook it up to a little heater. any thoughts or ideas for more realism?

Hi Matt,

Well, a heater in a WTC doesn't make much sense, since the last thing you want in your WTC is heat. A heater placed outside the WTC in the wet would be disastrious, considering that you'll have a whole lake to boil! The jet-propulsion is feasible, but a heater inside a sub doesn't sound all that well.

Well if you can get the superconducting material, and the liquid helium to cool the magnets, you could probably build a model magnetohydrodynamic drive.

This guy built a small boat drive using two Neodymian magnets some metal conductors, and a 9.6v nicad pack. (See near the bottom of the page)

Here is one of his links... [8D] http://www.physics.ubc.ca/~outreach/...g/construc.htm [8D]

We do know that in 1992 the Mitsibushi corporation demonstrated a prototype drive mounted in the "Yamato-1" The proposed thirty knot x-craft managed to reach 15kts in Kobe harbor during trial runs and demonstrations.

The Yamato-1 sits somewhat unceremoniously on the display in[link=http://www.kansaidoyukai.or.jp/yakei/100kei/raito/html/271p-e.html] "Meriken Park"[/link]
