They look like a rebadged (unbadged) MG995. I am aware that the TowerPro 995 is sold under a number of different names (Hextronic, etc). How do we know this isn't just the same thing.

You're welcome to send me one for testing if you want.

Crunch, snap .............grind.

That said, just killed the first 995 tonight. 1:6 crawler, couch cushions, turning 40series moabs with 6oz of weight in them. I have been meaning to get a stiffer horn for this thing. Not sure the horn twisting a little did it or not. I was just getting this thing dialed in too!!

Xjet - what is the word on the 996 review? Worth ordering a couple to try?

I can make space to mount a 1/4 scale servo. Is it worth going that direction? I figure the same torque out of a large case must mean lower stresses on the case and gears(??).
I was looking at the Hobbico CS-80 or HS-805BB. Omni models have them on Eb** for $29 and $39, shipping from Ill.
Anyones chime in on these models?
I have a wire harness made up that fed my Towerpro955's 7.2v straight from the battery pack. Can I feed either of these Hobbico's 7.2v???

The 996Rs seem to have the exact same gearset, case and motor just the electronics is different.

Review should be up next week.

Hi XJet,

I saw you replied at 4am my time or west coast US time, not sure. Then noticed you are in New Zealand. My brother-in-law moved from Tokyo to Auckland about 2yrs ago. Loves your country!

Powered up the truck today, and the crazy servo works again!?!?
I think the way I beefed up the horn helped, now need to do the front. I am piggybacking two steering arms on one bolt, so when I turn right (the outer most arm on the bolt), it twists the stock horn a little.
I used a pc of extruded alum U-channel, to make a double mounting point at the same distance from the center, now no twist.

Still considering a 1/4 scale. Same torque, but bigger case and gears should be stronger. Was considering the Hitec 805BB for $39 Eb**, but now found Tower Hobbies has their name on the same servo, the TS-80, for $29. Just need to mod the front shock tower. Maybe I'll TS-80 front and MG955 rear and see how it goes.

Any idea if the Hitec or Tower version of this 1/4 scale can run 7.2v??
