I was wondering if anyone has ever had problems with getting their EK 4 to crank. My engine will not even fire until I manually place fuel into the carb or cylinder head. Could it be that the carb is not seated correctly to the engine?? I need help fast!! Thanks

No! It only runs the fuel that I manually placed in it out then dies. I've also noticed that when the engine is completely cycled, it has a small air leakage coming from the back - somewhere around the starter system attachment. But it was doing this when I first got it. The first day I ran the truck, it ran ok being that it was a new engine or not broken in. That night, I sprayed WD-40 into the cylinder (with the cylinder head off) and let it sit overnight. Eversince, the truck will not pull fuel and therefore, will not stay running. What do you think?? Thanks for all the help you can give me!!

Have you done the changes to the tank and muffler? Tank: raise it up about 3/4" so the fuel flows down to the carb, muffler: move the pressure fitting down the pipe to the 1st chamber instead of the 2nd chamber where the factory put it. Seal your air leaks! Does the engine have compression? Check that the piston ring is not caught in the piston they had a batch of them with problems.
If you want EK4 information here is the site Midnight Madness RCMT They also have a very good forum.

Thanks for all of your help - I will try to move the tank and put the pressure fitting on down the pipe. When you say that - you mean closer to the exhaust outlet?? Thanks again!!

Thanks,
But it came from the factory with the pressure fitting there. I guess I'll just try to move the fuel tank higher. If I put a piece of fuel tubing onto the pressure fitting on the tank and blow air into it (with the tank empty), it is very hard to get air to come out of the fuel outlet. It would seem to me if it is hard to blow air out of the tank then it would be even harder to blow fuel out of it!! Any suggestions?? Thanks again for your help!!
