Steve, all I've ever tried is a 14x6 ( wood or fiberglass). This works for me.

Well Steve, it will come off the ground quick, but watch that throttle. I think it will want to over-rev with a 15x4. A .91 Saito should be happy with a 16x4. It should be OK until you get a 14x6.

I have a built-up 4*60 that I got on Ebay. It came with all the servos and a well-worn KB .65 Sportster on it. Put My 4YF Futaba in it and it flew good for a low-wing trainer. Not much for vertical though. Replaced the KB .65 with a new (old) OS .61 SF and the first thing that happened was the covering peeled back on top of the right wing. Flies great with a 12/6 prop and really goes with a 13/6. Very fun airplane. Am thinking about building a .120 and putting a 25cc gasser on it.

A four Star 60 is not too good on ground clearance with anything bigger than a 14"

Enjoy,

Jim

I use a OS .91 Surpass in my Four Star 60 kit with an APC 13X8 prop and it flies well.
I did however, repair a broken CA hinge on the elevator, I kinda wish I had installed the nylon type hinges
You most certainly want to beef up the landing gear with 1/8" steel rod, because the stock feeble landing gear will tend to spread apart
where the prop arc could catch the ground while landing and brake the prop, and you don't want that!

I just bought a kit built 4 Star 60 without engine or servos. I am putting a OS 91 Surpass in it. Where should I place battery pack, etc. for proper CG ?? I heard that they are tail heavy?? Any hints, beside: beef up LG, change pushrods, replace tailwheel that will make a better plane?? MANY THANKS, WOODIE

Woodie, I don't think the kits are near as tail heavy as the ARF's. I think it's a plywood thing. My ARF was very tail heavy.

Hi Guys,

I've been looking all around for the Four Star 60 ARF and nobody has it except a website called Ultimate RC Hobbies (www.ultimaterchobbies.com). I'm afraid of buying it from the website and getting a broken kit. Can anyone help me find the ARF version.
