Status: offline 		I recently purchased an electronic ignition second hand it says S/S ignition on it.
Does anybody know anything about this brand or know how to contact them?
The guy I purchased it from said he bought it at the Weak Signals RC Show in Toledo Ohio.

Status: offline 		Ok Dave here are some pics.

The first problem I was having was that when the plug fired it would also jump a spark from the plug cap to the outside of the plug. I beleive I solved that by grounding the sheilded wire.
Second is the yellow wire coming out of the box, I have no idea what that is for?
Third I don't know if I can run 6 volts or if I should just stick with 4.8 volts. The spark does look pretty good with 4.8volts.
Sorry for all the questions this is my first electronic ignition.

It does have continuity and I just tried grounding the yellow wire and that seems to work.
I have to get a new battery pack though. The one that I got with it must be junk because I charged it and I can only get a few sparks and then the voltage drops too low and I don't get any spark.

Hmmm, sorry that I dont have very much information on S/S to give you. Hope this helps

I talked to the guy at Toledo last spring, he seemed very knowledgable and friendly. He had several demo motors set up. His web site has good information to help set up that system.

That is what I was trying to find. When I get a hub made I will post here how it works.
All that I have done so far is bench test it and it does seem to have a nice spark.

Status: offline 		I have been dealing with Roy Sholl for a while now. He is a great guy. Any questions you have he will be happy to answer. You are correct on the shielded wire. It needs to touch the metal part of the plug. The silicon on the cap is to hold the braided wire aginst the plug. The ignition was designed to run at 4.8v. DO NOT run a 6volt battery to it. The max input voltage is 5.4 volts. The unit you have he does not make anymore. It is a fixed timing unit and all he currently makes is an auto advance unit. I have one of his old fixed timing units as well as a bunch of the variable timing units. My fixed timing does not have the extra ground. That must be somthing he changed since yours was made.

Yeah Roy seems like a good guy to deal with. He e-mailed me and sent me an update kit for my ignition no charge! I bought this ignition second hand from a guy not from Roy directly, anybody that would do that is ok in my book! I will definetly buy my next ignition from him!

Can I get one at radio shack or something..

Status: offline 		Yep. You can get those little magnets at Radio Shack. They come two to a blister pack. I use the 1/4" size. Make sure you test on ignition before epoxing to pickup ring. They have to be oriented correctly. Good luck, red
