You will make Blue happy. BTW where are you guys these days? Did Tim and Ken vacate the shop in Harrisburg? You may PM me if you wish.

Regards, FRED

I don't think there is anything that can't be known in public. Tim is back from China and has been spending the last 10 or so days moving the rest of Copperhead to VA. Ken is settled in now and we are working on moving forward. I am still in FL and working on my game plan. Ken and I have been working on the CADs for the new Stiffies and larger profiles. The factory is almost online and things look to be going on the right track. We have a couple months testing on the new planes and will give the go ahead on production. We have designed some really innovative products and with the new production facility, we should be able to keep up with the demand we'll have on the new planes.

Thanks for the comeback, Bill. I am happy flying my YAK and EXTRA, but I still prefer glow for the full day sessions because there is no charging, just gas and go. I bought the DX6 system for my stiffys and now I can fly anywhere without frequency or interference concerns.

My 3D planes are the Twist with an O.S. 70 4C and the U-Can-Do .46 with an O.S. .91 4C pumper.

I still fly my old pattern planes, and am waiting to see what Copperhead aviation comes up with.

Good luck, Guys

Regards, FRED

Ooooh........ you funny guy...............I pay you for make me laugh.
I'm sure if I did have the right program, you're not going to send me the CADs to your 'new offerings' before they even go public.
However, you could just print them out and send them along.
Guess I'll just have to learn to be more patient.

Hi, Blue...looked up the Edge you bought from 3DX, and looks like a really good substitute for the Copperhead stiffy. Same motor and esc. Good research on your part. I will keep it in mind. Thanks.

I'm glad I looked it up, the "sticky" antenna for $11 looks really cool also. I wonder how it range checks. My DX6 system has only a 3-1/2" antenna as the frequency is in the Gigahertz.

Regards, FRED

Hey Fred,

I looked at both the Stiffy and the Airfoil Z back when trying to find a home for my motor. I killed a foamy to small for it...after some really fun; way to powerful; 3-D.
There is a post comparing the two foamies.

Fun banter to read. Tim and the owner of Z challenge each other on who is best. Tim won my money that day but has lost me for now to the Airfoil Z. All I see is praise for either plane except when the other mfg chimes in.
In all fairness I really liked the Extra Stiffy just annoyed as you and everybody else knows..sorry about being an A. I do not bash unless I am overly annoyed and I was...I am over it with a ship coming one way or the other. I see more $$ to spend in the near future....if... I have a bunch if HS-55's without a home. I just don't trust them after a couple failed to easily. I use the Hitec 65's these days. So far the Karbonite has not failed me standard or micro. Nylon has...
I was talking to a flying buddy today about the spread spectrum technology. Neither of us know much about it. I know Horizon is trying to sell it.
Right now I have 2 park planes and a heli....that fly. 2 using Hitec dual 72mhz, 1 single conversion. I have a Futaba 9C TX
If Copperhead comes through this time I will add two more planes to my parkflyer collection and one will be without anything to go in it. I will look into DX6. I know my little heli will benifit..or at least I have read and heard that it will. I can't fly it worth a flip anyhow. I am old enough to need easy time and you never get that in the air with micro heli.

William and I talked and I explained the nose being a weak point of the design. He said to use hot glue opposed to epoxy. I did not even own a hot glue gun..just got into this park flyer thing last year. I just had been taping the tiny servo's down without issue and that is the omly place I have seen to use hot glue.
So I went and bought a hot glue gun.....expecting my new fuse any day . It is great for foam repair..William was right. If I had that hot glue flex the prop stikes; that broke the nose off 4 times after epoxy repair; might have been OK.
I just thought it best to buy a new fuse..live and learn.
I could still build a fuse, I played with many types of foams..here is one... I made 6 planes around 36" wigspn out of a $5.00 sheet of the pink stuff. You can cover it on low setting and get a fairly strong plane. Rather brittle just pink..just fun...which is what this hobby is supposed to be.

Cheers and happy flying all..ho ho ho

Hey Fred,
I love my DX6. No glitches, no range problems, (and I nearly needed binoculars to bring her back a couple of times), and no crystals. I also like the stubby little antennas on the receiver. No long trailing wire to get broken.
Only one problem. The little hinge in the antenna is quite fragile. My son and I have both managed to somehow break this hinge. You cannot buy just the antenna. The company said I would have to send it in to have it replaced. Maybe send it in this winter.
Great radio, but be sure to be careful with that antenna hinge.
Happy landings.

Ouch,

Tim is going to kill me for recommending HOT GLUE. As hard as Daniel and I were on these planes, hot glue was the best fix. We are working on a perminent fix to the nose problem and think we have it nailed. I know we have had our scuffs with the Airfoilz guys, but they make a great product as well. I am confident you will enjoy the Airfoilz just as you did your Stiffy. I need to find someone to order one for me
The Stiffy and Airfoilz take two different approaches at the same end. And we are both at the top of the game.

so how about the fuse you said I would get today or yesterday. I see you refer to my enjoyment of the stiffy in past tense.
Not at all suprised that the fuse arriving; as you posted in front of the world; did not happen....again.
Just something to say to look good here hoping I would go away????

I am tired of it William.

Tim shouldn't be mad at you. If he won't send replacements as promised people need to know how to best self repair.

That's not true. And I wasn't make any reference by referring to your Stiffy in past tense.

Same as always..

You know I would not gripe if I did not like flying the Extra Stiffy.

I have two nitro's that have not been in the air in a year. Could not care less if I was waiting on a part for them.

Its a compliment in an odd way.

I am hoping for Saturday now. Local club has an elctric fly in Sunday and nobody has a Stiffy. Build while watching Auburn beat LSU.
The stiffy is about an hour away from being in the air once the fuse arrives....and that is using epoxy.

The Extra Stiffy fuse did indeed; just now; arrive today...Saturday 9/16 1:20PM.

In time for 3:30 kick off.
Sorry I stole the thread for a bit, but it worked.

Thank you
William and Copperhead gang. good luck!

My opinion now betwen the Extra Stiffy and th AirfloilZ is there is no comparison except they both have an airfoil.
The Z is cheap..now...nearly everywhere the the manual shows lite ply is now plastic. It used to use pinned hinges, now plastic things.
Just cheap and dainty. No where near the quality and design of the Stiffy....just my opinion
I put the Z aside today and built the Extra Stiffy and it is ready for fun flying with my friends tomorrow.
