Late in October I realized I had not received a renewal notice or a ballot for the election. They used to come together in one envelope. I called the AMA in Muncie and after much button pushing on their automated phone system I connected with "Crissy Fairchild". I told her about the situation and she said all the ballots had been mailed and that mine must have been lost in the mail. That is about as likely to happen as a snowball freezing in hell. I have lived at this address for 32 years and to the best of my knowledge no mail addressed to me has ever been lost - period. That reason for not getting a ballot is a cop- out! I wonder how many other members did not get their ballot? No one at the AMA said to me "We'll look into the situation and see what can be done". Nope, I am just out of luck when it comes to the election.

Next Ms Fairchild told me the AMA does not send out renewal notices. I have been a member since 1937 (65 years) and I can't remember NOT receiving a renewal notice. To me this pretty well characterizes the AMA.

So no ballot no vote. Something is very wrong with this scenario!

The only reason I still belong to the AMA is so I can fly at the club field. I belong to a club which requires membership in the AMA (for insurance reasons - Don't get me started on that one!).

The AMA used to be a good organization - by the modelers for the modelers. Those days are long gone. The AMA is now for the AMA - not the modelers. Seems like their motto now is "Let the modelers be damned!" The Executive Committee thinks they know what is best for modelers and they are going to make rules and regulations to see it is done their way or no way. Horsefeathers!!

What the AMA now needs is new leadership in Muncie. But if they deprive the members of their vote that will never happen!

Hi Jack,

I can identify with you. While I can't say they didn't send me my ballot, they did, I lost it. I called up and asked for a replacement ballot. I was told that since all the ballots are mailed from a special warehouse I couldn't have another one.

Wow! I've never heard of not being able to vote as long as you give them plenty of notice that you need a replacement.

Kind of sad

Jason
