I use the sim everyday Flying lama.
...

My apologies. I did not mean to imply that you did not (I did not know either way).
I should have prefaced my reply with "You may already know about this ..."

I am interested in hearing how things go with you on this next helicopter,
as my personal guess at a next helicopter would probably be an E-sky CP2/Blade CP.
It's small, electric, RTF, relatively inexpensive and can do some acrobatics (though I still cannot).

From what I have read, alternative next choices for a next helicopter are either
a larger helicopter (more inertia and so more stable?) or an E-sky Honey bee FP2 (more durable?),
but I have no personal experience about this.

Sorry, I did not mean to be a johnson. I was just in a hurry, and couldn't explain that. Anyways, I am thinking that I will get a HB CP2 or a Trex, or Mx400.

If it was me (and it was at one time), I'd go with a FP next. Esky HoneyBee FP or Walkera DF4. HB FP has better electronics but may cost a few bucks more. Cheap to buy, fast and cheap to fix - and they will need fixing. The money you spend on this interim step will be saved (and then some) in repair costs of your next CP heli. In other words, getting a FP now and a CP later will actually save you money in the end.

One of my helis is a Blade CP. If you're going to go this route, get the Esky Honeybee CP2 instead. The 2 are almost the same, but the HB comes with all the upgrades you'll want to buy for the Blade CP. It comes with the 11.1v LiPo and charger, symmetrical blades, & Bell Hiller head. It's about $170 compared to $320.
If the choice is between a Trex or MX400, you might as well get the Trex now.

Just my opinion.

Hi,
I'm starting to have problems with my Lama, I wonder if anyone can suggest anything please?
I am finding that after turning on the tx, I have to keep trying to turn on the rx before it initialises, eventually it does, but I have to keep pulling the plug out of the rx and and putting it back in numerous times.
(Or is this just a manifestation of something else such as low tx battery - although the Lama flies fine once the rx has eventually initialiased.)
Any suggestions gratefully received (ps the rx says RX404 - I'm not sure if they are all the same?)
Jeddy

If the green LEDs on your Tx are lit, low batteries shouldn't be you problem. If they aren't, it could be the problem.
Also, maybe check to make sure your throttle trim is still in it's lowest position. It may have been accidentally moved.

Thanks Gary.
It is definately not the throttle position / trim, as I can leave the tx alone while trying to get the rx working and as I say, it eventually does. However the tx battery lights are no longer the same colour as they were, I guess it is starting to get low (hmm, it doesn't so much reduce the number of bars shown as change the colour somewhat). I guess this is where I search the house for 8 batteries to see if this is my problem. If it is, then the tx batts don't last long do they - (maybe 10 flights) - or maybe the batts supplied with the model aren't the best in the world.

the batteries that come in the box are crap, mine lasted about 7/8 flights.

by the way, as you are also in the uk this might help. morisons is selling 12 pack aa size duracells for £4 a box, these have lasted about 2 weeks of flying 2/3 li-pos a day (and are still not flat)

oh no.
ive just blown one of the chips up on my esky lama on the bottom speed controller on the 4 in one board.. i dont know how it happened. i can be blamed for it happening twice before on my walkera dragonfly's no 5 but this time i had a slite tumble into some clothes on the floor and then a second later i saw a bright light and a puff of smoke..

question is where can i get a new chip ( i can see which one is damaged and i could replace it im sure ) or if i cannt get a new chip where can i get a new 4 in 1 board ????

From Hong Kong: http://www.heli-fever.com/index.php?cPath=4_40&sort=2a&page=2&osCsid=980a40f1fee4698b764dae5c6ed852c6
(have not tried this place myself)

From U.S.:
http://www.helidirect.com/index.php?cPath=38_69
http://www.hobby-lobby.com/cocolamaparts.htm

Also can try to google search for other places.

Also, earlier postings to this thread have mentioned using a Blade CX 4 in 1 board in place of the regular Lama2 4 in 1 board
(probably will lead to a more tame and stable Lama2)

Not looking good, I've replaced the tx batteries with new ones and am still having problems. I've hardly flown this thing and already it's looking like it needs a new rx.

A recent one is post #476 (page 20), in reply to post #474 (page 19).

For faster searching for others:
1. Trying downloading the printable (text only) version of this thread (button on upper right).
2. In post 495 (page 20), I attached a 1 Mbyte text only version of this thread up to ~ 2006 Mar 1 as 1 large file.
