Guys

Would someone kindly tell me how to adjust the pots in the 4 in 1? My Lama continues to rotate clockwise, and I've been able to control much of it with the trim, however, it continues to do rotate a bit. I have read that adjusting the pots in the 4 in 1 can solve this issue. However, I just don't know how to adjust it. Would someone kindly reply with how to do this? My sincere thanks, guys.

Thanks

I'm interested in upgrading my Lama2. It's a little twitchy and it has a hard time easily maintaining altitude. What could I replace that would have the greatest performance benefit? The 4-in-1? Servos? What are my options?

Hi. guyz
I currently have a DF4 i can fly it pretty well but i was looking for a more stable heli. i was going for the DF5 but then i saw th lama 2 . OK...now in confused. which one would you recommend? and wat are the differences? ...

Thanks for he help, Sid

I am assuming that "DF#" are Walkera helicopters.
I have no first hand experience,
but I remember having seen in a number of places that Walkeras are harder to fly because the electronics (especially servos) are not as good.

One place: "The Electric Helicopter Beginner's Guide v16" by Toshiyasu Morita
From http://ehbg.rchomepage.com (16th edition - 2005Dec)

Chapter 2, page 2-3: "The Walkera helicopters are not recommended for beginner helicopters because the electronics are of very poor quality. Various problems which have been reported include:
• Transmitters and receivers have very short range and/or interference problems
• Servos jitter and/or have centering problems"

you're not the only one who hasn't posted in a while!

hmm, the V3 seems to have a different frame... and... uh... a paint job, even the electronics don't look to different! I also noticed a new servo arm on the servo.

I had a question, I'm still using the stock charger and I've had a heck of a time with batteries swelling! I've so far lost three. would this be because of excessive discharging or is the charger at fault?

Make sure you're charging the batteries on the 7.4v port, not the 11!

no, it's the 7.4v one, it doesn't fit in the other (I've tried) and I get about ten flights then it swells... it's really weird.

So far, I have lost two batteries (one battery swelled after ~20 flights, another battery is weak after 1 flight, but no swelling).
I have timed my charging, and it seems about right (1-3 hours, more as the voltage before charging is lower).
I have also occasionally measured the voltage after charging and it seems fine (8.2-8.3 volts).
During charging, the battery is not hot.
So my guess is that my discharging is doing the damage.
Unfortunately, I cannot yet monitor the condition of my battery while flying.
One session, I measured the voltage while running my lama (pinned to the ground),
and it was sometimes a lot lower than the voltage after stopping the lama (dropped to 6 volts while running, recovered to 7+ volts after stopping).
I need to build/get some kind of airborne low voltage indicator
and/or try some alternative power sources (wire for low level hovering, NiMH batteries?).

Hi,

I have been flying my lama for about 6 months now.. same battery.. yes.. once it swelled a little, but after I re-vamped my cage the danger was out it terms of the main gear touching the battery. But the battery itself is doing fine.

I would suggest to you not to totally exaust your battery before charging. Once you feel you need more throttle than usual, land the bird and charge your battery. Also, my stock battery and charger usually gets fully charged in an hour or so. but never more than 1.5hrs.

V3- does looks kind a neat in terms of look, but the electronics looks the same.. and yes the servo arm is mounted different than v2's maybe this will take care of the tail control problem that appears in all x-rotation birds after flying for few mins.

thanks,
squadri

Unfortunately, I am still at an early enough stage of flying that I am still too nervous trying to stay in the air and avoid crashes to check my throttle level much.
I try to stop early enough, but when I measure the battery voltage afterwords, it ranges from 6 volts to 7.5 volts, so my sense of when to stop is pretty bad.

By the way, I have read that even a slightly swollen battery is kind of dangerous, but I (obviously) do not have much experience dealing with these batteries.

did I just hear you're using a swollen batter? NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER

use a swollen battery!!!!! no offence but it's quite stupid, and really dangerous, if it should swell more it can explode, burning your Llama into submission, not good. please, get a new battery

hi..

yeah.. maybe i wasnt clear.. you can call it swollen.. but it is not balloned..like totally swollen.. it still fits the cage.. but feels little bigger than original.. he he he he..

Yeah, never use swollen batterie.. dangerous.. I agree with both of you. And i dont with my other helis.. but some how with this one it flies fine.. and looks fine.. so i dont care.

I picked up my T-REX SE yesterday.. boy... what a machine.. i tell you I have never flown anything like this before.. the thing is like a real helicopter.. the sound the response.. the feel.. totally different than the Blade-CP or any other CP i have flown before. But was very expensive.. compared to any machine I have bought before..

going back to Lama 2... land the machine when it is coming close to 7.0 V.

6v is already to the limit. 7.0 is where you will feel that it is becoming kind a slow in throttle response.

Mine when fully charged is 8.4V.

I have also tried Lama 2 with Blade CX batteries and the response were the same.. it is just that the size of the Eflite battery is longer than the stock Lama battery so i did not wanted to modify the battery cage.

Well.. happy flying..
take care..

squadri
