fourfeet -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (12/28/2006 8:37:59 AM)

Hi everyone, I was hovering my lama perfectly in one place in total control, and suddenly it just dropped straight down to the floor. I checked but everything looked fine, then tried to fly it again but it can never lift no matter how much I throttle up. Has anyone ever experienced this? I was on my 2nd battery when this happened. Did one of the motors blew or something?

Mike01 -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (12/29/2006 7:11:31 PM)

I've had my lama (v3) for about a week now and I'm enjoying flying it. However, I've noticed that it doesn't actually fly straight when I push the right stick forward. It flies forward and left, as though it thinks the nose of the heli is left of where it actually is. If I give it a litle right at the same time, it flies straight.

Is this normal, or do I have some sort of trim/balance issue?

Anyone found a IV yet?

Hello Folks, The blades on the Lama seem extremely brittle to me. Does anyone know of an alternative blade for these birds. If the material was just a little more flexible, these blades would survive a crash better. Thanks. -ccpmheli

fett -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/1/2007 7:46:32 PM)

Hello,

I just got an Esky Lama 2 from my girlfriend for Christmas. It was flying great for the first few days (broke a few blades, crashed/banged it into things a few times, but it's been flying well so far...). This morning I turned it on and there is no green light. Ive tried everything I can think of: changed the battery pack, changed all of the batteries, but still no power...

Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Fett

fett -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/1/2007 8:03:30 PM)

Just to add to the above post, what I get is a steady red light, instead of the steady green. I have servo control with the right stick, but no throttle with the left stick. Thanks.

ccpmheli -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/1/2007 9:03:59 PM)

Hello fett, Are you sure your throttle stick and trim are all the way down. These helis have a "safe-start" logic in the RX, and if the throttle and trim are not at zero when powering up, the motors won't start. This is a safety feature. BTW- That's a good girlfriend you've got there. Good Luck!

fett -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/1/2007 9:55:31 PM)

ccpmheli - After bringing the throttle trim all the way to zero I got the green light again. thanks!

ccpmheli -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/1/2007 11:11:43 PM)

Your welcome. Glad to hear it. These little helis are a blast. One thing I've noticed is the blades are easily broken. You might want to pickup some spare blades, I think Hobby-Lobby has a pack of 6 for around $8. I have never broken the ones on top, so I am just going to buy replacements for the bottom blades. Have Fun!

Hah
You haven't tried landing on the side of a house yet then.
Try that, and let me know about the blades [:D]
(I know you shouldn't fly it in the wind, etc etc)
It kind of popped up a little above the "sheltered" area I was flying it in. driveway was surrounded by trees, house, and a garage, so it was fine, until it got up into the wind :(

Then I also got a blade caught in a pillow with the threads on the edge. That took out some more.
:(

Then to make it worse, USPS is closed on Tuesday too, replacement blades were supposed to be here Friday. But they weren't. So now Wednesday :(

But yea, it's a blast.

ccpmheli -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/2/2007 1:17:40 AM)

I wish they made the blades out of the same material my Esky HoneyBee's blades use. That material is a little flexible, but rigid enough for their duty. I am going to search for a more durable alternative. I even made a tail out ouf strofoam because I thought the hard tail boom was breaking the blade during a boom strike. I have broken a blade with the new tail, and the tail is pretty soft.

Allstar DF37 -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/2/2007 5:03:31 AM)

I think the blades would be alright if they were just a little bit thicker. Check to see if your flybar is hitting your bottom blades it doesn't seem like it will reach but it does. I shortened my flybar and lightened the weights on the end but you could always bend your flybar up some on the ends if you don't want to cut it. Now my bottom blades only break when I crash into myself and other things.

Allstar DF37 -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/2/2007 5:18:38 AM)

Here is a pic of my LamaV3 with a fresh set of blades with a sticker that cautions.

WARNING!
Don't lose control of your model!

I just thought that was funny.

Oh yea, that is definitely a "contributing factor"
Every catastrophic wreck I've had, the little clip, holding that in place pops, off, so it flops off to the side and down, hitting the lower rotors.
I didn't want to try and "enhance" that clip holding it tighter, because the blades seem cheaper, and easier to fix than something else that might break if that clip doesn't release?

Does yours pop off much? It never pops out from normal flying, (well, it may have on the last one? I don't know what caused it, was flying along normal, then all of a sudden, it did like a half barrel roll, and fell straight down. I was hovering, and then going side to side so the rotors were leaning a lot. {like the "rock and roll" portion on Radd's school thingie. Only not as extreme as he does :) })

Cheers

Mine does not pop-off (nor do I get broken blades), but my flybar does get loose:
instead of the clip releasing, mine breaks when the flybar hits something.
Then I need to replace the entire inner-shaft with the hub that has that clip.
I wish the flybar would bend or a blade would break instead.
It would be easier and less expensive to repair.

Allstar DF37 -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/3/2007 1:42:16 AM)

Even with the cnc e-flite head with the original flybar the blades would hit the flybar without the flybar popping off.
I replaced the stock head because the flybar popped off during flight sometimes too.
That is why I shortened the flybar a half inch on each end.
I think this head is nice from Microheli, I should have bought this one but it wasn't at the hobby shop like this the one I got was.

Nitronuts -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/3/2007 11:52:34 PM)

Looking for the online manual for the Lama V3, can anybody help?

ccpmheli -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/4/2007 12:37:14 AM)

jaygen, Try Here...>>> http://twf-sz.com/english/manualdetil.asp?LarCode=Helicopter&MidCode=LAMA+V3

jsonin -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/4/2007 3:10:55 PM)

Uggh... on my third battery charge, I was hovering the Lama and the very top of the main shaft snapped... the little plastic top that holds the fly-bar in place snapped off the shaft.

I had not crashed it (I have the luxury of flying in a 50'x75'x75' atrium at work) so it seems strange that the stress of 3 flights snapped off the plastic fly-bar holder.

?

Any suggestions on replacements?

-Juhan

ccpmheli -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/4/2007 8:41:50 PM)

Hello jsonin, Hobby-lobby sells replacement parts for the Lama...>>> http://hobby-lobby.com/cocolamaparts.htm

Upgrades too...>>> http://hobby-lobby.com/cocolama-upgrade.htm

Anything that will fit in a 4"x4"x4" box, ships for $2.99.
Also, Helihobby.com has spares and upgrades as well ...>>> http://www.helihobby.com/html/HOUSEFLY1.html#PARTEK1-0313
They have very reasonable(USA) S&H too.

Nitronuts -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/4/2007 11:24:42 PM)

Whats does it mean on the charger when the red light is solid and the green light flashes? I dont have a manual

ccpmheli -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/5/2007 1:01:02 AM)

It is trickle charging to top off the charge. After the blinking, it will go out and the charge is done. Red LED on=No battery connected or Charge complete. Red LED On and Green LED on=Charging, Red LED On and Green LED blinking=Trickle charging to finish the charge.

Nitronuts -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/5/2007 3:13:39 AM)

Thank you!

up4speed -> RE: E-SKY LAMA 2 THREAD (1/5/2007 2:43:00 PM)

Don't worry, even if you had the manual, it's tough to understand unless you can read Chinese!! other than the charger, most information is just common sense (unless you never flew R/c before). That's why these boards are great, you can ask real world questions and get experienced answers!!
