heh, I just put a random number as it looked good, it's EXPerimental LaMa X01 which since GTX puts numbers on his, why can't I? I probably shoulda put a 2 instead of the 1, but it looks good none the less.

I recently got an E-SKY Lama from HobbyLObby which matched Balsa Pr price plus 10% but unhappy about parts availability esp. inner top shaft which holds the flybar which broke and they Balsa and hoblob said they don't have any. Went to LHS who stocks plenty of blade CX parts and used there inner shaft which is same length and diameter as E-sky only issues were I had to use blade CX flybar and I had to use small washers to take up the gap from the blade grips between where it mounts to the shaft. E-SKy Lama vs. Blade CX. The lama is way faster in forward flight and allot more responsive in manuvering. Happy w/ the Lama.

Few questions/comments today:

1. I'm convinced that one motor has better cooling than the other because at the beginning of a flight mine wants to spin to the right and after about a minute it's going to the left. This happens on a full or partial charge.

2. The reciever has a single pot. Is that for yaw trim when the tx can't trim out all of it? It seems to do nothing on mine. I've turned it all the way both directions and it didn't do anything.

3. Twisting the blades does nothing for me. Do you guys heat yours with a hair dryer or something while twisting?

Yes, the pot is a proportional motor adjustment to control yaw. Make sure to power the "4in1" controller off, if it isn't off already, and than on again in order for it to see the pot adjustment.

The general consensus seems to be that the yaw drift is due to heat problems with the controller. Also piezo gyros will tend to drift. My BCX does hold the drift better than my Lama 2. I may replace the "4in1" comtroller in my Lama with one from the BCX. Several people have said this helps the drift in the Lama.
As far as blade twisting goes I just twist them by hand and do not heat them up first. But I have found they do not twist that much and may not retain the twist for long. I was trying to stop yaw drift by twisting the blades but never had much success with that, and it only seems to last for a flight or two.
Now I only twist one of the bottom blades when I want to adjust tracking in the bottom rotor. For the top rotor you just need to adjust the flybar link for tracking and do not need to twist the blades.

Well there is my problem. Thanks.

Mike:
1. Try stripping off the tail and cabin to balance it out and completly free the motors. See if it still wants to twist around after a while. If it doesnt, then you might considder chewing off a piece of the tail and cabin to get an easier flow. Perhaps making a custom carbon tail rod and canopy like Gary did, will help it a little bit.
2. I dont believe thats simply a yaw adjustment pot. I think its a gain pot, wich means messing with it will not fix the problem, it only shifts it. It might hover straight, but in forward motion with more throttle, the problem might show up again.
3. Blade twisting only got me a messed up tracking. Cant do anything usefull with that little "trick".

Im thinking of going full on modular on my lama. 3.6grams reciever, stripped GWS PG-03 gyro, and an old Dragonfly esc + mixing board. I find that my PG-03 is much better at controlling the situation as the voltage starts dropping.

Sooooo, did anyone toss this ol' bird up in the back yard yet? I wanna see this thing ragging outdoors. :P As soon as I get my new gears, I will see if its able to fight a little outdoor weather. Ive heard this thing can still buck around in Bft 2 winds, unlike its brothers and sisters, because it has stronger controls.

Thanks

Yeah Robtor flew my Lama 2 and his Walkera #5 outside and it didn't work out well at all. I didn't even feel a breeze but he had to go full deflection into the "wind" to stay in one place and still wanted to blow down the street. The auto hovering systems seems to make it unproductive when trying to fly at any sustained speed.

I flew mine outside, too. Maybe 1mph breeze. It was OK at 3 or 4 feet, but when I got to about 15', the wind blew it so it was actually flying (falling) on its side. It crashed into the driveway. No amount of control could save it.

Sideway breezes kill it indeed. You need to keep tail/face in most of the time ive heard.

Im gonna try mine in thick grass. If my X-twin will fly without a hitch, I think the lama can go up without trouble aswell. Well see.

I was flying nose into the breeze when it came up, well, what there was of it. It shifted. I was flying in my front yard and it blew about 30' into the driveway. It really wasn't much of a breeze Once it started tipping on its side like it was going to tip upside down, there wasn't anything I could do. It was tipped on its right (starboard) side. I kept it in the air a little longer by giving it power and a little left aileron, trying to out run the breeze and upright the heli, but it still came down. By the time it hit the driveway, it was going sideways pretty fast, but only loosing altitude slowly. I broke the landing gear frame but not the actual skids. Nothing else b
