Many people have minimizzed their yaw drift on their BCX by cutting openings in the canopy so the "4in1" controller gets more air flow to keep it cool. I wonder if this would help in the Lama 2. The bubble canopy is pretty closed up and maybe opening it up a bit to cool the "4in1" would help the drift. Of course the test would be to first fly it without the canopy on to see if the gyro controls it better then.

Mine got toasted this afternoon.. The thing crammed up and decided on a flight on its own. Tried to catch the bird by the tail as it started squirming on the floor, but I was already to late. The rotors locked up long enough to deepfrie the bottom motor driver.

Fixed it temporarely though, with an old feda esc/mixer board, a GWS PG-03 gyro and a GWS 6 channel reciever. Had to ditch the canopy and tail to meet the origional weight, or the thing might overheat.

What should I do now? Is there a better 4-in-1 board available thats compatible with the lama, or should I just go origional.

Well I was right, my Lama is, was defective, today when a new battery is hooked up to it, all I get is a red light on the receiver, no green and she is dead in the water, tried multiple batteries and same results. I told this hobbyjapan2000 this thing had bad electronics but all they can do is argue with me. 7 days old and dead, would anybody else be pissed off?

I doubt yours is dead, try reducing the trim on the throttle since it won't initalize unless it's at zero throttle, it's like that on purpose so it can't accidently startup after plugging in the battery. Be sure to turn on your transmitter first, then the heli. Hope this helps!

Hi, is at zero throttle, did that right away, its still just a red light and nothing else.

Generally red light means not initialized, I'd say keep trying, it's even possible that the throttle is reversed, a simple way to check would be to put it at full throttle and try it that way, if it works, reversed the two outer wires on the pot that controls the throttle, are you by chance trying to use a different transmitter than the one that came with it? Does the transmitter move the contols?

Attempt to reduce the temp of the 4in1 to reduce the yaw drift.
- Removed the case and used a tie strap to hold it in place.
- Removed both side windows.

I'm sure it's getting much more airflow but it didn't make any difference.

The red light will also come on if voltage is too low. But other signals than steady green on the 4in1 is normally a sure sign something else than the 4in1 has a problem. Radio not on, trim not down, throttle not down, bad xtals, low voltage as mentioned.

If that price is included shipping it's ok. Mine was $89,- + shipping, you can find them for $ 69,- + shipping.

Mine will usually slowly turn even with full right trim. If my $ 500,- helis were doing that I would consider it a problem.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my lines on cultural differences, that was not intended. I have bought 3 helis and some spares and stuff from HobbyJapan and have nothing but good experience. I'm certainly not saying Asians are crooks. I've spent $ 1000,- ++ shopping rc stuff from Asia this year and have had only minor problems that have been fixed.
However, I choose to buy my stuff from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong as it's cheaper there. I do take into account that getting problems fixed will often be a lot harder than if I bought from my LHS and I don't expect to have bad equipment replaced as it will often cost more than just buying a replacement as I'd have to pay shipping both ways (as I did on the charger I sent for warranty repair). These overseas traders will not have the same need to fix problems as your LHS as they know you probably won't be loyal anyway. For your next deal you'll shop for the best offer again. (Must add tho that the 3 problems I've had on stuff from Asia have been fixed well but I've been a returning customer with those shops)
And yes I do have 10+ years of experience in dealing/trading with people from Asia (as well as America (N+S) and Europe + some aussies) but I do not compare that to shopping from Asia on the Internet.
Customer care will vary a lot and I just think you are better off just fixing this yourself rather than having a bad day over bad customer care from HJ.

You can get the 4in1 for $ 42,50 so if you are sure it's shot why not just get a new one.

A few people have replaced their Lama 2 "4in1" with the one for the Blade BCX and have had less yaw drift problems. Only change I think is need to swap one of the motor wirings and swap rx crystal.

I changed the entire electronics with some old crap of my own. Flying on a PG-03 gyro the thing never drifts anymore.

This vendor was selling them for $70 +$30 shipping a few weeks ago. Then the price went up about $10 on the next batch. The current auctions has them selling for $92 something plus shipping. Right now, the $122 price shipped is the lowest I've seen from anywhere in the USA who actually has them in stock. I'm sure that after Xmas many dealers will get in another big shipment and the price will go down again.
Even at $122, they are way cheaper than $170 plus shipping you'd pay at Hobby Lobby (if they still had any in stock).

I just bought one for $122 from that eBay auction this morning - I have two Hirobo XRB Lamas, but my curiosity got the best of me
