Hey Mods,

Great looking set up......This is a great post....among other projects I have this same kit waiting to be finished. I'm at about the same stage as you are. (it's been at that stage since 1996 when I left the active side of the Marines). This winter is my come back in to RC, this post got my kit back on the table and ready for round two....My question is what kind of exhaust are you going to use........I don't remeber seeing it in past threads.

The reason I ask is I'm going to dust off the old credit card and buy that motor (100nx) for the kit.....along with some other things.

If you need to buy an engine for a Skybolt, I strongly recommend a YS 110 or Saito 120

Mike-

Is the Saito 120 workable, given its large size and somewhat hefty weight? Or would the new Saito 125 be better (same size as the Saito 100)?

-Scott

P.S.- My Skybolt got on the brown truck at 4:39 this morning. It's been sitting in the Eagan warehouse since Christmas Eve.

I wasn't even aware of the fact that Saito came out with a new 125.

If those are the specs, it could be a real winner (Especially if you were going to add the extra weight of a smoker )

Hey Scott, LMK if you want some help sticking a smoke system in that thing!

(Or help with anything else for that matter)

Mike-

The 125a just hit the streets. Engine only weight is about 22 oz. The Saito 120 is 28 oz. and the 100 is about 19 oz. Horizon lists the 125 at $339, but Hobby Warehouse was selling them for $310, I think.

I'll definitely be adding smoke and I'll definitely be seeking your advice. I've already read your tutorial and plan to use your method.

-Scott

P.S. -- Are you going to make it to town for the TCRC Auction on Feb. 11?

Hell yes! I was going to ask you the date once it got closer.

I'll mark my calendar.

Maybe I'll have the wife come along and spend the weekend at her daughter's house. Then they can shop, and we can "Play Airplane"

Have any of you glassed your fuselage on your skybolt? I really am thinking of 3/4 ounce glass cloth and epoxy resin. I do most of my planes that way and paint with base clear automotive paint. I work in a body shop so it works out great. Thanks Rick

I don't see why not. Although the Skybolt is already a heavy plane, so I would watch that weight

Wow, they both fit? Cool!

a 12oz smoke tank will be plenty (I think mine is only 10oz)
