Just hope I have enough winter so I can finish all the projects I have lined up.

You could always move to Minnesota. That would give you an extra 3 or 4 months!

No need to stop flying though. I was out flying on Monday, and plan to fly all weekend up at the lake.

Not to mention how much extra a 2-stroke will run you in fuel. In just the first season alone a 4-stroke would pay for itself

Mike,
That's one of the reasons I decided to stay in Oklahoma when I got out of the Army. We have winter, but not much of it. When we get snow it's just enough to enjoy it, it will snow and than be gone in a day or so. I've never been really good in cold weather. I always wonder why people would live in those "cold states up there"???

I like the point about fuel. I think I would rather have the engine I want in there than the one I wish I had.

I'm sure now, the thumper (4) is the way to go. So I'll hold out until I have enough cake.
That will also help me priorities my other builds.

On a side note: I also hate being cold, howerver if I moved to a warmer area I'd have to learn a new skill. It's took long enough to land the fairly cushy job I have now. I don't even mind going to work most of the time!

Thanks for all the input guys.......Look foward to seeing more posts from you Mods.

Well, I got started on the Skybolt yesterday. I must say, I am impressed. This is my second kit ever and first laser cut kit. What a difference the laser cutting makes. My first kit was a GP Cub, which was die cut. None of the tail or wing tip pieces fit together well. On the Skybolt everything fit perfectly.

I got the fin and rudder done and sheeted. The sheeting was perfect and I didn't have to do anything to true up the edges before joining it. I used medium CA to join and didn't have any problems with excess glue making it difficult to sand. It was quick and easy.

I tried to post some pics last night but my dialup connection at home wasn't working real well. The pics are essentially the same as you already saw in Mods' posts. I think this build is going to be a blast!

Congrats Scott!

I also liked the overall kit quality. I said once before that GP got this one right. I'm almost ready to start building my preheater coils on the muffler this weekend. Should start Friday and test the smoke system next Friday. I'll definetely post pics of the entire process. Even post video of the engine run once I figure out how to upload videos from my camera.

I just bought this nice test stand from richmond rc for $17! Brown's bringing it over so it will take 3-5 . That's the only reason I'm not testing this weekend. Oh well, but I can still build it.

Wow! Does that ever look like a deal! Just might have to get me one of those.
Please post a detailed description and some pics when you get it. I'm curious to see what it is made of and how sturdy it is. BUt it looks like a great deal for the $.

Hi Mods,

Yes, my canopy is attached with some small #2 button head screws. Somewhere through the tint I have a Hobbico voltwatch in the cockpit, and a pilot. I wanted to leave the option of getting back in there if I needed to.

These
http://www.microfasteners.com/catalog/products/SSCSBS.cfm
or these
http://www.microfasteners.com/catalog/products/TWSSTP.cfm
depending on what you are screwing into are great for that. Just pick correct style and size.

May need to add backer wood and harden with CA.

Yeah Bruce, Though I think I bought mine through RTL Fasteners great services with fast shipping. I harden the area with some thin CA as you described and it seems to be holding up fine.

RTL is OK, I use Microfasteners because they have a much wider variety of stainless hardware which is my preference. Prices similar. The Ford vs Chevy argument again. I guess that is why I have a Plymouth.

Thanks Wydah!

That will go on my list of mods for this aircraft.

Finally finished the smoke oil injector for my Evo 1.00. I got this design from RCdon-Thanks Don! He has a great site and I highly recommend it. Construction was pretty easy. The hardest part was finding aluminum tape that could withstand +200 F temperatures. I uploaded video of the final product.

Construction Photos:

1. The products I used. Wire wrap, JB Weld, Marine Grade Fiberglass, Aluminum Foil Tape, etc. The aluminum tape cost $13.00 a roll . This is the first time I used copper tubing. You must buy this if you are a builder. Fits perfectly into fuel tubing. Very soft, easy to bend and twist. Can be looped around a pencil many times with no kinks! Awsome stuff

2. Muffler weighs 4 oz to start.

3 & 4. Mounted the muffler to the engine for a visual check. I first notice that some of the coils will be exposed in the air stream and consequently will be cooled at an accelerated rate = bad for heating. To combat this, I
