Yeah we're pretty close, we should go up to the school one day. Nice big grass areas, much easier on the tires.

ok heres an update with the "updated" diff kit I received from losi.

lock center diff + "updated" diff pinion gear = OUT of commission mlst!!!

Looks like I'll have to wait till losi releases the spool, which should be around mid Jan. Can't wait. Finally some metal diff pinion gears for the front and rear diffs.

Then maybe I can get some power out of this aon.

Did Losi send only one gear? I would think they would send one for the front and rear to cover all the bases. Looks like I'll put in the mini-t center diff when I get my gears in, the locked diff/spool is just too much.

I'll make the third from honolulu. My Lst is also out of commission. So far I have tried a single 8000 mamba, dual 8000 mamba and now have a Align Heli motor in it. Just waiting for some new f/r diff gears. Last set broke in the dual 8000 set up. So which is better ? The Hyperion or the Aon? Speed versus torque?

Basically, a higher kv motor will give you more speed at the sacrifice of torque. It seems that the best torque motor is the AON 4900. I think the Hyperion 5k is a good mix of speed and torque. I'd like to see how fast the Hyperion 6k is compared to the Mamba 8k. Based on the results from Troy from BPP, the Hyperion 5k is about as fast as the Mamba 6.8k and has better torque.

Okay, today I got my Hyperion 6000kv and installed it. Have not run it yet, but the install was so easy! The only thing that made it a non-drop-in installation was that, because of the outer bearing I had to grind away at some of the motor mount. I reversed the location of the receiver and the ESC in order to get some more antenna wire legnth. I also put in the TP 1320 3 cell LiPo, fits perfectly like a glove. I also returned my Hitec servos for Airtronics ones that will be shipped Friday. I can't wait to get this running!

Cool, lets see some pics. Make sure your slipper isn't too tight and hopefully it'll hold out for a while.

his using those thunder pack 2 cell lipo.

well tried using the grease that came with the "updated" kit and no use still stripped it, so its official the "updated" diff pinion gear is just as weak or weaker than the original.

I've heard people using the OFNA diff lock lube and they haven't stripped their gears. I'm not sure if it's just real thick or if it really locks the diffs.

with all set ups i have been using a single kokam 11.1v 2000mah Lipo. Kinda scary, as the battery got a bit hot ( sorry didn't temp ). I'm pretty sure that the batter was not able to handle the draw from the two motors at once. I got 1 run out of the align Heli motor before the front and rear diffs died on me. looked pretty good, will need to test further when I get new diffs
