HI Guy's
I just orderd my first Taurus engine from Bill yesterday, What a great guy he is so helpful and good to talk to on the phone. I am so excited about my engine I had RC dreams last night about being the first one in our club to have one. The new beauty is gonna hang on my new world models ultimate 27%, she is getting the best of everything i can find. I have a feeling i'll be ordeing another for my GP Christian Eagle.

Thanks to all for the patience. Since Dec.one we have been swamped with orders, consequently a backlog. We have upped our production schedule as of last Friday. We appreciate your confidence and hope to finally start wittling down the back log.

AL,

Remember Al I told you about the Taurus engines. I get first dibs on the Taurus if the stock market crashes and you need to sell it. Would be a nice replacement for my Brison 3.2!!! : )

I'm on the waiting list too. Should have one in a couple weeks or so. I can wait. I'm upgrading from a BRISON 3.2. I really liked that engine. The Taurus will be nicer yet.

Patience is a virtue, and the good news is Taurus will be shipping engines to all of the patience customers. And because of your patience there will be a bonus for you.
don't ask you'll know about it when you get your engines.
Thanks to all

I'm not a Taurus owner (yet), so pardon the intrusion please - just have a few questions.

One, what does it mean to "pin the firewall"? (Yes, I'm only a few years into this nasty aweful addicting hobby and brand new to giant scale and gas, so pleae bare with me.)

Secondly, I am building a 27% CA Models Extra. After many months of researching engines I had all but decided on the Brison 3.2 until reading this thread. Now I'm convinced I must have the Taurus. Although this'll be my first gasser/giant scale, I have a tendancy to want to do things the "best way" the first time. God only knows I can use all the help I can get. At approx 14lbs AUW, will the 3.2 be overkill or just right, (I'm after unlimited performance).

Thanks.
Bob

Bob,

Look at the first photo in post #158 of this thread. You can see the pinned firewall in my installation. The "pins" are small wooden dowels that reinforce the firewall. The pins in my firewall are 1/8" dia by 1" long.

My Taurus should be on the way to me soon. If a 4 inch round bell mount will fit the firewall of the CA then you'll be all set. I have not heard of any issues with that plane and guys are putting 50cc motors on them. You'll have a hot combo!

At 14 pounds a Taurus 52 would be just about right according to Terry's signature...

Tex and CHM, thanks for the info. The pins now make sense (duh) , as does TKG's signature line.

I just started into Steve's build thread on the CA and see that he did indeed fit the Taurus 52 rather nicely on the snout of his bird, so I'm thinking that's the route I will take.

I live not all that far from the Taurus shop in MI, so even a better incentive to buy one (I am all for supporting the local guy when I can, especially when it's the best option).

you ought to have it by now.

Just in from Florida, One of our customers it saying he is getting 7110rpm's using a 22X8 Bolly prop on a Taurus TS 42 2.6. just passing it on. I have not documented it, but I know this guy and doubt he would not say it if it wasn't true. If I get more info I'll pass it on.

this motor is very nicely put together, the throttle linkage is super, the muffler is perfect as well. I cant wait to fly with it.

Hey, I sent this report to Bill at Taurus about the second 2.6 I purchased from him the first one I put on a Great Planes Pitt's, this one is on the new 27% Cap 232. The one I have on the Pitt's is more than enough for it. I was running a 20X10 Mejlik on it then in an attempt to reduce the rpm I went to a 21X10 Bolly. The rpm went from 7600 to 8000, I was surprised to say the least, the vertical performance improved so much that I decided to stay with Bolly and watch the throttle.
When I got the Cap set up I wanted a more manageable rpm and made the small investment in a 22X8 Bolly for it. The first run up of the little 2.6 told me somthing good was going on up front, I grabbed my tach and got a reading of 7110 rpm and it repeated this reading every time I brought it up to full power. We are talking some serious power and torque from it and the thrust, well lets just say you better hang on real tight. Half throttle takeoff runs should be real short. This was just what I was hoping for but before the run up I afraid it was going to be to much prop for the 2.6. I haven't flown the Cap yet but can tell it is going to be fun as it weighs 14.4 pounds compared to the Pitt's at 18. I can't wait to show the DA 50 owners in my club what a Taurus 2.6 is made of then tell them to just think of what the 3.2 can do. Move over DA, there's a new kid on the block with a chip on his shoulder. Bill said maybe he should have kept this 2.6 for himself, it was his last one. Best engine for the buck if you ask me.

Not suprised at the results you get from your 2.6. What suprises me is the results you get from the Bolly prop. Good luck with your Cap.

The 2.6 Sachs was always close to the 3.2s in power. Most builders stopped making the 2.6 in favor of the 3.2 early in the game. Now people are so obsessed with displacement and weight I'm surprised Taurus brought them back.
