Hey guys,
I've got a Nuova Faor SF501 but this would and could apply to the Thunder Tiger nitro's as well. Looking for any mods and bigger engines you guys have successfully stuffed in your bikes! I'm all over trying to put a .18 in place of that wimpy little .12 but just curious to see what opinions y'all have here!

5150,
Why dont you try getting your .12 eng modified by RB mods or EB mods. I have read several 1/8 scale offroad racers happy with their modified engines from these two guys. I have a couple of .21 engines in work by EB mods.

Hey Vad,
Yeah, that's not a bad idea. I think I am going to start with a better .12 though. Looking like Novarossi CX12PS1N has the highest r's and hp. Might have to start with that one if I can find one here in the states. Hate to spend any money on a crap engine only to have it not be able to hold out.

I've also looked at nitrous as well as the superchargers. They both look like they have potential.....we'll see. I'm not too worried about it until the summer weather comes back.

And not that the stock engine is that bad or wimpy.....I just have issues with the maximum amount of hp in a vehicle! Think I need a 12 step program for my addiction! LOL!

5150,
Try contacting Jim Hottinger from Fusion motorsports. He is the distributor for Novarrossi in the US. You might be able to get your motor after all. Also have you ever considered installing an onroad .12 motor in the bike, is that possible?

Hey thanks Vad, I'll check with Fusion. I've had a heck of a time finding a distributor here in the states. And that model number on that Novarossi I spoke of in the previous post was an actual onroad. I'm thinking it would allow for the best power to weight ratio.....we'll see. Thanks for the tip on that. I'll email him now!

5150,
I just realized on thing, Fusion motorsports seems to bring in the Top line of Novarossi engines. So if you are looking specifically for Novarossi name, Fusion might not beable to get you the Novarossi name, but if they can get you a Novarossi motor, let me know.

We'll see what he can do. I just shot Jim an email and I'll post his reply if there's any chance he can get it.

I'm thinking this is going to be the weapon of choice. It has the most hp and rpm's available with all the same factors needed for the bike.....side exhaust, pull start and pilot shaft. I've been killing myself for the past few weeks researching this stuff. O.S. has a few, HPI might have one that works but none of those are a direct "drop in" engine. I have a friend that put in a different Novarossi he got and said the thing is nuts for power! He's totally happy! He got his on a fluke though. This engine I'm looking at is even more powerful than the one he has also. So it should be good. Here's the specs from the site:
Displacement :2.09 cm3
Maximum power:1.00 hp
R.P.M. (M.P.):34,500 rpm
Practical Range:6,000 - 42,600 rpm
Bore x Stroke:13.80 mm x 14.04 mm
Ports:3
Piston type ie-Cast
Crankshaft Ø:11 mm
Crankshaft Type:SG "Pull Starter"

I'll keep the details coming on my progress!

Denied! Here is the response I've gotten back from a few dealers, this one from Jim direct at Fusion:

Novarossi is discontinuing their side exhaust engines.
Thank You
Jim

So upon further reading, I'm thinking I'm going to run with kun114's swap he did here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=357611&highlight=sf501+

He seems to be pretty dang happy with his .18 and from what I can read it's got hoops of power. That and I have never had a problem with an O.S. engine and am not about to go with an engine that is being discontinued.

So I'm thinking he has the best idea! I'm sticking with it! I'll keep you guys posted on progress!

Take it from someone that knows!

The difference between some post and mine is I experienced it!

I purchase a RB Supercharger for my Losi Aftershock with great hopes. I wanted something different, something that was unusual. As you can see http://www.masonic175.org/images/Potluck/losi/losi.htm I spent many hours fabricating brackets and soldering wires for quality insulation.

My two friends that also purchased Losi Aftershock’s thought I was nuts spending that kind of money on a supercharger. But I had high hopes, this thing will work!

We met on several occasions to run our trucks. My truck ran GREAT after minor tuning; however…….. it didn’t run any better than the others…?

Most of all I am disappointed in the customer service. I E-mailed them several times with no reply. You would think that if they had such a great product they would have a responsive customer support team.

I can’t understand the posts that claim superchargers work, I wonder if they work for the company…?

Nova has 3 motorcyle engines listed on their site. Look under the Rex section in on-road. The CR12R2N is a side exhaust rotary carb and it has a roto start backplate. Looks like a perfect match for the TTR. Jim can you get these motors?
