I'm on the list for one of these, and was looking for some additional info. Anyone that has been flying this plane -

What are you seeing as your all-up weight?

What setup (motor, servos, etc.?)

Flying characteristics: is a 150 enough? Any bad habits in this plane? How is the pitch and/or roll coupling with rudder? (I'm more of an IMAC guy than 3D guy, but am looking for comments on both kinds of flying.)

I'm planning on using the following:
DA-150 with either tuned pipes (K&S 1090's) or MTW 110's
JR 8611's
-Are 3 enough for rudder?
-2 or 3 for aileron?
-1 or 2 for elevator?

Thanks for any info - can't wait to start building!!

Pete

Hello,

Mine weighs 40lbs 12 oz RTF with a New DA150 and Pefa cannisters. You can save some weight but not much. They have lasered out so much wood already. I have Fromeco's, 8611a's now two per aileron 1 per elevator but I made a space for two if I get into more 3Dand 3 on a SWB tray for the rudder. I think if you cut some lighting holes in the Rudder and Elevator I bet you can save 4-5oz's in the tail. Flying is very easy. It spnas and stops when you do, almost no coupleing and floats like you wont believe. Have fun with your new project.

David

Without starting a new thread, I'm hoping someone can chime in on some general dimensions...
I'm gearing up to help a flying-buddy build a 40% Yak this winter. I'd like to know the length of the fuse from the firewall to the rudder-post....basically the length of the fuse as it's framed up on the board. I've currently got an 80" workbench that's used for this type of work.

I'd also like to know the width and length of a single wing-panel so I can size my vacuum bags. I'm currently setup to handle up to 40" wide bags.

If anyone can throw out these dimensions, it would be very helpful! Thanks!

Hello,

I will try to help out here. If you let the motor bpx hang off the table you will just make it. If not its 88.55" long. The wings are 57" long.

For the other question:
Servos per aileron depends on if you. 3 if your more a 3d person but many have used 2 servos per. 3 per rudder two per elevator
One our site David S. put those tuned pipes on his with a 3W200
Weights have been in the 40-41 lb range with cannisters.

I have Davids opinion on our site. With the airfoils we use it floats even with little to no wind. I will have some video very soon.

I hope this helps some.

Thanks

John
