Well the holidays are over and it's building time once again.
I got the vertival fin glued in place and got the fin fairing sheeted and glued. As you can see in the pic. carden supplies top and bottom templates for the fairing cut outs which greatly helps. A band saw makes this task a piece of cake.

As always I used an swb rudder horn. I used a router to cut out for the rudder assembly before gluing the rudder leading edge.

Here is the fuselage with stabs and rudder installed, it's starting to look like an airplane.
I also used a two and a half degree mount from swb.

As I mentioned on an earlier post I decided to make a sub floor for the pilot and here is two pictures after painting of the cockpit was completed.

Can you believe the two wheel pants are the same weight. BTW they're very light!

As usual all the foam parts are top notch and the wings were no exception. I driled 1/4" holes 2" apart along the cut out line, this allows me to get some glue in, while twisting the phenolic tube in and out to get an even coat of glue all the way around.

Here's a picture of a jig I made for the servo cut ots on the wings and stabs. The bottom of the jig lines up with the hinge line and the right side of the jig lines up with the control horn.

Once again I used the router to cut out for the servo hard points. This is a tool You must have.

Once the servo hard points are done it's time to cut out for the servo wires i used the same jig as on the stabs and then capped the slots with 1/8" balsa to prevent any warping of the wings while been vacuum bagged. The wings are now ready for sheeting.

AS722!

What is the size of your building table? How is it constructed?

Thanks,

Perry

Hi, Perry.

It's three feet wide and eight feet long. The top is 3/4" particle board as well as the frame. I went to home depot and had them cut a whole sheet of 3/4" particle board in to 6" wide, 8' long strips which i used for the frame and the legs are just 2x4s. Less than $50.00 for everything.

Thanks for the reply! I may call upon you during my 260 build if that would be ok! By the way did you install a Petes Tailwheel? I just received one for another plane and I am a little disappointed. Its light though...

Thanks,

Perry
