Calixto,

You are right on all previous statements. I have had lots of engines, all kinds, never could start them quickly, and always had those ugly black marks on the spinners. I would go to the RC airport and watch guys pull out some giant sized planes, start the motors with one blade of a hand prop. NOT ME......I always ended up in a mess of nitro oil, with rolls of paper towels, and bottles of custom made windex type cleaner.

I LOVE ELECTRIC! MADE LIFE MUCH EASIER FOR ME.......

Disclaimer:

Do it at your own risk, electric is not for everyone.

Thanks for the word of wisdom Al. Yep, I don't go flying IFR half cocked that is for sure...many hours as a GA pilot, even built an experimental. It went like this: GA pilot, RC pilot, RC builder, Experimental builder, RC ARF stick it together < GRIN >. Yep when the 180 was on a 1/5 Cessna, three flip for prime, two flips with ignitor, and she fired up. The 180 was on its side then and carb was pretty much in line with fuel line/tank. I am getting fuel there, as it runs out easily with the carb opening pointing down. I will give it few more attempts. Yes, I am doing this by myself in my back yard with the tail held by two PVC pipes hammered in the ground. I will not lie, the 180 is intimidating...so much compression when it is wet and with fire on the plug. THanks again for the encouragment and words of caution/support.

Calixto,

Did I see grass, and lots of it? Did I see happy guys? I want to join your club.

Seems like I could be in a new business, thanks to you. I have turned down several orders for the Panasonic D Snap, and several offers to buy one of mine. I fogot to tell you, I now have two. I declined all offers and I just steered the perspective customers to the internet, however, I gave you full credit for the camera referral. Any future videos will include two different perspectives and the cameras will be strapped to different airplanes. I want some in flight videos of other planes.

I'm almost ready to upload some older videos, similar to the Telemaster videos, only taken from both on the ground and from inside my 1962 North American Aero Commander 500B while showing off before an air show. That airplane was bought from drug smugglers, flown by me for many years and re-sold to some people from Brazil. The word is that it is back to it's former use, it is being used fo fly fish.....ha ha ha.

PS, Wonder what happened to Flyifr and his Saito 180 powered Telemaster?

Al.
Good to hear you found a good use for that little camera, No matter how hard I tried the wife would not let me buy a real airplane, so I settled for lots of rc airplanes instead .Butch is probably looking for the front end of his Telemaster somewhere a couple of miles upwind of his flying field. Looking forward to those videos.
PS If you ever come to Panama, you would be our guest of honor at ASPADA, we do have a good group and have a lot of fun.

Hey you two, I am here. Can't believe you would talk about me behind my back < GRIN >. Well if the dang 30 knot winds will subside, I will go fly. I cannot believe this circling low north of GA is doing this. I have never had a new plane that did not fly within days of completion and this one is sitting in my basement shop gathering dust due to weather. My D-Snap is to arrive tomorrow. I wonder how much more money can I pour into the TM before it takes flight. Reminds me...have you seen these guys flying with wireless cameras on board with IR glasses !!!! That is the coolest thing I have seen in a while and the money for the setup is not too bad ( glad my kids are grown now and gone..it is all about me and my toys) . YOu can be in business for about $1000. Boy is this tempting.

Al, a Grumman was your toy huh ! My first left seat flying ever was in a little two seater, low wing, bubble canopy, trike grumman, I forget the model at the moment. All I remember about the flight was the sweat dripping down my back in that "easy bake oven" of a plane. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this week for me.

Calixto, the TM looks fine, can't tell it was ever broken. I agree with Al, you guys look to be enjoying the moment !!

Butch,

I hated Gruman American single engine planes, never had a Grumman American single engine. One of my many planes was a North American, they made the AT6 and many B bombers. Over the last 20 years I have had more than 30 full sized planes. Not bragging, it was a better investment than anything else, and I got to fly them all. The Aero Commander was my favorite and I kept it off the market for 8 years. I will upload a video tonight, however I can't get the comperable video taken from inside the plane to work properly for edit. I have one video taken on the ground, then another in the cockpit, same flight.

I want to hear more about the wireless camera stuff. A guy at the field mentioned that he saw one in action. Seems that the pilot used glasses to fly his plane quite a distance away.

Al,

These systems are by far the best for the money. They aren't cheep but you get what you pay for. Oh and I can't afford one.

Butch, Mike, Al.

We shure have drifted from the original subject but it shure has been nice fun and informative to follow this thread. I will try to send some satellite images of our flying field downloaded from google earth, that is if I can manage to do that, if you have not been on that web site, please do, it is amazing, I can find my house and even my car on satellite images. Go to www.google.earth and try it.

Calixto,

We haven't drifted that far yet. The Senion Telemaster is just a great foundation for all kinds of modifications and in flight video. MikeFreas has started another thread on modifications, however, I did a search and can't find it. Maybe you can find it Calixto and link to it.

Technology is moving so fast that it seems to be a new project everytime we want to upload stuff. I have been screwing with a Video taken with a full sized VCR camera and converted to DVD. I don't have the camera any more, so all I have is the VCR tape and the DVD disk. In order to upload it, it is taking three conversions, DVD to Mpeg-4, Mpeg-4 to Avi, Avi to Windows Media. This all involved the purchase of crap software off the internet that won't work. Anyhow, I finally got it this morning, had to go to work and couldn't wait out the upload to Putfile, so I will upload it this evening.

Next venture, Telemaster, the glider tow plane......This would be a good project for the guys in Panama..LOL ... I was just thinking about Flyifr'sTelemaster. His plane might actually be able to launch a full sized glider. LOL

Al

Al, I did use my .40 size Telemaster as a glider tow plane for 2 meter gliders and it did a beautifull job, it flies as good as the sr. Telemaster with the advantage that it has flaps. I will modify the wing on the Sr. to add flaps, when you use flaperons, you loose aileron control and have to steer it with rudder. I agree with you if the airframe holds, Butch could tow his car with the Telemaster.

Al, Butch, Mike.

This are satallite pictures of our flying field, the long little lakes on the right hand side are the excavations started in 1939 by the US for the third set of locks that was halted by the secondo world war, further right you can see the Miraflores locks on the pacific siede of the canal.

Showing Off before the Watsonville, CA airshow.

The mis-matched sounds at the end of the video is that of a war bird doing a fly bye behind me. Our group alway had to show off before and after the airshows.

http://media.putfile.com/Showing-OFF-Final2

This is a video of what used to be my twin engine Telemaster, also known as a 1962 North American Rockwell 500b Aero Commander. Probably the safest twin engined aircraft ever made. You could shut down one engine and not know the difference. It could fly and climb to 10,000 feet with only one engine. It carried approx 3,000 lbs of weed, or 7 people and all their baggage.

What a Telemaster this was.

Calixto,

Nice photos. I was in Panama City back in 2000 or 2001. Fortunately, the salesmen I was traveling with could speak very good Spanish or I would have been in big trouble many times!

Al,

I like your Aero Commander. It feels like a very safe ride.
