Thanks for sharing the info and the photos. I always suspected that you were part of a good looking family, your pictures proved me right.

Since you posted your pictures I thought it would only be right if I posted mine. Sharing is the name of the game when it comes to the internet.

I just want you to know that whenever I am in public I always get comments made as to my appearance, just like I get comments made regarding my flying expertise.

I am working on the modifications to my Sr. TL wing to add flaps, will post pictures when more advanced.

Status: offline 		Here are a few pics of my Senior Telemaster on its maiden flight last weekend. It is flown with a Dualsky 1250 watt brushless motor and a 14x10 APCE prop. I am amazed at how much performance this motor gives me for only 100 bucks. On FULLYMAX 6S2P 2250s (4500 total) I can do full power (straight up !!) passes for about 15 Min., and still have plenty of power left to line up for landing. 1/4 throttle gives me 25 min. of just tooling around practicing coordinated turns. The motor and batteries are from Sureflite.com here in San Diego. The plane is flying as I expected, it is a telemaster after all. I have since added a wing bolt down plate, and struts for reallt tight loops.

Status: offline 		Just when you guys thought that I was either dead or not flying my Telemaster anymore, along comes the new battery technologies.

First up was the Molicel battery commonly seen in the Milwaukee V28 power tool packs.

The 6-cell Molicel barrel-style pack was assembled by E-One Moli Energy in Canada and then wired with a BalancePro HD connector and shrink-wrapped at FMA Inc. The 22.6oz 10C Molicel pack is compared in size and weight to the 20.6oz 3.2AH 20C LiPo pack.

8-12 minute flying depending upon aerobatics. Safe charging provided by the BalancePro HD 6s Charger. Note that field charging was done at a 1C rate or 3amps and a 12" BalancePro HD Extension cable was used.

There was a noticable loss in top-end power using the Molicel pack instead of the 20C LiPo pack.

Verification for Molicel fit on application: (8/60 minutes * 22amps = 3AH) , (3AH * 7C = 21amps)

The 7C discharge rate matches normal flying conditions of the Telemaster using a current draw between 20-25 amps. Full throttle draw was over 40amps which noticable reduced flying time when performing aerobatics.

Next up...A123 cell testing.

Hobby-Lobby had a out-of-stock sales on Senior Telemaster ARF couple of weeks ago for $165 + $7.99 shipping. Needless to say, I couldn't resist. After Hobby-Lobby gladly replace the first unit that was crashed and damaged by Fedex, the second unit was in beautiful condition. I would say it's almost perfect by my standard, and I am not easily impressed. Well... there are couple of covering on the fuselage that was not glue flat, but it was easy fix with my trusty heat gun.

Anyway, as a standard procedures to check-in all my new model, I weight all the parts as they arrive and try to estimate the AUW. To my surprise, everything in the ST ARF box weight-in at 112 oz, only 16 oz shy of the Hobby-Lobby's quoted AUW. This new developement makes me worry about how well would this model fly. It's only obvious that the AUW is going to be another 42oz (moto/esc/bec/battery/servo/prop/adapter) on top of the 112oz air frame. Based on the 1330 sq inch number quoted from Hobby-Lobby, and the estimated AUW of 154oz, the wing load is going to be around 16.67 oz/sq feet. By far, this would make ST the highest wing load model I have ever own.

Would this post a serious problem, especially during landing and take-off? My main concern would be landing, as I have hear Telemaster is one of the more diffcult trainer to land, as it tend to float forever and miss the landing strip.

A little bit of weight means absolutely nothing to the performance of this plane. I put 5 POUNDS of candy in mine and dropped it over the local elementary school on holloween. The only difference I noted was that it took 30 feet instead of 20 to lift off of the ground. Still flew great. And frankly, anyone who bit**es that their plane is too LIGHT to land is a ****** and you should not be seeking their advice anyway.

Status: offline 		Brad, you are being a little tough on ASM, not nice, and I didn't get any candy so I'm grouchy..


ASM,

Don't worry about the float, Just power off on downwind and let her glide in. Keep it slow on the turn to final, don't worry it won't stall. Use the rudder to steer when it gets slow and let it float down. It might appear to be fast, but, when it hits the ground it will be very slow and you can turn it almost immediately without touching a wing tip.

You can do it, stop worrying.

I am considering electric for my ARF when I break open the box next month but I am not clear on which battery pacl would be ideal for this bird. Long flight times are key since this isnt an aerobatic bird per say.

I have a BlackWido setup that im gonna strap on here and also my old Aiptek digi cams to it as well. I would like to try electric since it will keep vibration to a minimum if I trying to shoot video with it

Otherwise I was gonna stick a Saito 91 on it!

Status: offline 		Personally, I'm going with high voltage (6s Lipo or 20 cell NiMh) low current setup. That usually give better overall efficiency. The motor I am using is from UnitedHobbies.com and the model is 52-50B mated with 14x7 APC prop. The only down side to this type of configuration is the need for one of those high voltage ESC.... which add to the cost.

Status: offline 		Hey guys, finally picked up the Sr telemaster today for $135.00 during HL's after Thanksgiving sale. Got the servos as well - all on sale! Anyway, what is the consensus on the BME .91 gasser vs .61 w-stroke and up? Is a .61FX really enough?
