Jeff Weiss owner of AirKills stoped producing kit two or three years ago. What plans are you looking for?

Well, I have the Macchi MC200 plans that I am going to build. I have a canopy on order that can be found at www.turnkeyrc.com I still need a cowl, and I am wondering how this plane flys. I have never built a 1/12 warbird before! I have only bigger planes. My biggest concerns are that the wing area is only 185sq in and the smallest engine I have is a OS .25 However, the plans say .10-.25 size engine. Still, with only a 35" span and a .25!? I dunno.... I have flown a .40 sized shrike so hopefully I can fly this thing... I would like to here more from you combat guys about flying one of these. Its not for combat or anything, just a little warbird to play around with. Thanks.

dls,
Thanks for the info, I called them and have a plastic package on the way. It has the cowl canopy etc. Does anyone know what I should expect with this plane? Thanks again.

I hope it's the 25 FX, use it, put a mouse can on it. Watch the throws on the aircraft and the CG. Scale Combat ships don't take much in the way of throws before they are very active.

It'll be fast, under 100 but at 1/12th scale they get small exceptionally quick. On launch with the engine full up, hold it by the canopy area, give it an underhand toss with the nose 20 degrees up and about 15 degrees of right roll in it. The torque from the engine will roll it back left and yaw it a bit too which will be overtaken by your toss so the plane should actually go pretty level. With the FX you will have enough power that it will fly straight away from you. With an LA you'll have to count on a flatter launch, less torque too.

First time I launched my scale bird I through it flat and though I'd just launched a CL Rat racer. It accelerated very quick and yawed at least 20 degrees to the left, just like it was on lines. Straighted out after an 1/8 of the circle though and started going straight. They're a whole bunch of fun even without streamer on.

Hey thanks for the advice Clean. To be honest with you I don't even know what motor it is! It is not a LA. It is an older O.S. engine that I got with a ton of other stuff. All it says on it is O.S. Max on one side and .25 on the other???? I was thinking about getting a Norvel BigMig .15 unless everyone thinks the .25 will be alright.

yee-ha The macchi c 202 is a very small plane and will most likely land like a rock with .25.

Just what I was afraid of. Ever fly one or see one fly? Is it possible to slow these things down and fly around casual, or are they just a rocket all the time like a Wonder and a Shrike?

yee-ha I had the macchi c 202 not the c 200. Mine had a 15 size engine and only weighed 24 oz. Even at this weight it was difficult to land. I would suggest that you find a bigger warbird with more wing area. At least 275 sq. in. even more if you plan on using a .25 and flying slow. Hope this helps.

Hmmm. Bummer again. Anyway I am too deep at this point. I already have ordered the cowl and canopy and have started cutting parts. I guess it will be another airplane to sharpen my reflexes.

How was its other flight characteristics? So on landing you just have to come in too hot?

Also, I am going to get the Norvel BigMig .15 to save weight.

The plane is fast, hard to land, and will be short lived. Should have asked before getting this far. Sorry, I can not offer any words of encouragement.
