Does anyone have any experience with the New Great Planes Pt-19 Arf. I am planning on buying one I have not read anything on this plane yet. I am considering using the OS 160 2 cycle.
Do you think it is too much engine? thanks

I have one ready to fly with a Saito 100, which will probably be way too much for the type of flying this plane is supposed to perform.

In all honesty, save the 160 for an aerobatic model. A 90 2 cycle will be more than enough, but the sound of a 4 stroke is amazing.

BTW, mine weighs right at 10 lbs with an on-board ignition system

Dick,
How does this plane compare with the Hanger 9 PT-19?I see that they are about the same size but the GP version recommends smaller engines. Is the GP one lighter? Also interested in the Saito 100, and what you think of it so far.I have a GP Ryan STA with this engine that will be ready for it's first flight this weekend.

As I recall the Hangar 9 PT-19 was about (wait, let me look it up on my other computer) 13 lbs 2 oz with a Saito 150 engine. The GP has almost the same wing area, weighs 10.5 lbs and should go like a rocket with that Saito 100. I'm turning a 16-6 Master Airscrew plastic prop at about 9300 RPM and it has enough thrust to lift the plane vertically out of my grasp.

The Saito 100 seems to be really nice and has lots more power than their .91 (and that's no slouch!)

When the weather gets just a little warmer here, I'll do the test flights, along with the ones for the Hangar 9 Clipped Wing T-Craft and the World Models CAP232.

They just keep showin'up...

That's what my tachometer says, 9300. on a Master Airscrew plastic which is probably closer to a 16-5 since their pitches are traditionally 1" less than advertised. Elevation here is 300 feet.
