Just a quick question for those that have one..If I read the description correctly, it comes with an AC adapter for at home use so I could plug the charger into the AC supply and keep my TX on trickle charge indefinitely without any damage to the supply or the charger?

Josey Wales,
Really bad to keep NiCd and especially NiMh batteries on trickle all the time. You will cause a significant reduction in their service life. Much better to get a wall wart and an appliance timer set to run 1 hour out of 24 to keep the transmitter fully charged ready to go.

Yea that would work

Does anyone know if the ACE switches to a constant trickle or a pulsed trickle

Joe, you can adjust the trickle rate of the elite.
Set the trickly to C/20 or C/25 and you should be able to leave it on for a week with no problems. To answer the question about indefinately, you need to talk to Red.

Thanks! All my planes are on Li-ions except my TX..I need to get a charger for my new foamie and the ACE seems to fit perfect..I like to keep my TX charged all the time but if I cant do that with the ACE then I guess Ill have to use the timer method..not sure though how that would work..my TX pack is 1650

Buy one of these from NoBs batteries CH96 High Output System Slow Charger 120/180ma $18.00

Geistware - The timer method is what Red has been advocating to keep NiCd and NiMh packs topped off. I just like it so much I've been repeating it. My receiver and transmitter packs are going on 4 years old and still test to within 90% of new.

Thanks John..I guess mi biggest concern was keeping my TX ready at all times.seems the best and easiest way is the timer thing..I could use the Elite to slow charge at c/10 and then when done put it on the timer like you said

I have a 1650 nimh TX pack for my TX..If I use the timer method and hour should be enough to keep the charge up on the larger pack right?

Joesy Wales,
Just so we are on the same page. You charge the transmitter normally then to keep it fully charged you use the timer. I have two strip outlets side by side with the lower being controlled via the timer. When I come in from flying the airplanes wall wart and the transmitters wall wart are plugged into the continously powered strip after 14 to 16 hours or even the next day I plug them into the timer strip. Anyway it works for me.

I have a few questions. I have a couple of new NIMH 5 cell battery packs (2500 and 2700 mah). I want to give the new packs a C/10 formation charge. How do you set up the Accu cycle Elite to perform this task? Also, I've been using a TME auto trickle with my wall warts to trickle charge all my nicads, Is the appliance timer a better option? I haven't purchased the Accu Cycle Elite yet and was wondering if there is something better with dual ports? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Bass I don't own an Elite so I can't answer the question on how to set it up for a trickle charge. I know I got very frustrated trying to get the Triton to trickle charge so I modified so wall warts I had around and use those. Higher capacity commercial wall warts are available from No BS Batteries and others. The TME and the appliance timer should have similar results. As far as recommendations for dual ports I'm going to buy a Multiplex LN 5014 to complement my Triton. Think about buying two of the LN5014's.

Set your charge rate to C/10 250 for both packs. Set the pack capacity to 2500maH for both packs. THen charge. It will either peak or auto shutoff. Both conditions are OK. If you want to set the trickle, I would do it at C/20 or 125maH for both packs. If you want to leave it on for an extended period of time, I would reduce the trickle to about 50ma - 75ma
