BobHH -> The Original Falcon 56 Is Back Again! (12/2/2005 6:30 PM)

OK guys, we are taking orders for the Original Falcon 56 kit. This kit has been developed for the focus model of the Vintage RC Society for 2006. I have been working with Beppe Fascione who is on the committee to verify its authenticity and to qualify it for VRCS events. For this reason there will be a special introductory price for all VRCS members. Please check out the website for pricing and further details.

Thanks,

Great news Bob! Are you going to do a Skylark too?

BobHH -> RE: The Original Falcon 56 Is Back Again! (12/3/2005 2:35 AM)

Well guys I am not sure about the Skylark as of yet. I still trying to get through the Falcon 56! I do have my 2 prototype Sr Skylark kits on the shelf I been trying to get to for a month now. Just don't seem to have enough time!

Bob, I assume you have the original decal sheet? If not, I found one in my stuff just a few days ago that could be copied. I gotta have a[nother] Falcon!

Campy -> RE: The Original Falcon 56 Is Back Again! (12/3/2005 6:38 PM)

Does the kit include the canopy and decal set ?

BobHH -> RE: The Original Falcon 56 Is Back Again! (12/4/2005 12:37 AM)

Sorry, as of now no canopy or decal set. Just trying to keep cost down. I hope to offer the canopy as an additional option and should know a price as soon as I get some quotes back on it. As for the decal sheet I don't plan to offer it but Kelvin may have a source for it.

Thanks,

Bob Harris

I have a friend in Omaha who does a small business in restoring classic decals. You guys speak up-if there is some interest, I'll send this Falcon sheet out to him and see if he'll work them up for us. Most of his decal sets are less than $10. The decals I have are near-perfect and should copy nicely.

CCRC1 -> RE: The Original Falcon 56 Is Back Again! (12/4/2005 6:53 PM)

I would buy several if they were new reproductions.

Yep, Bob would scan the decals, do any retouching needed (they will need little if any) and print new copies. I'll drop him a line.

I would also take 2 sets of the Falcon decals.

I would also like a decal sheet...

Bill responded in the positive about doing the Falcon decals, so I'll put the original in the mail to him tomorrow. You can contact him through his web site: http://billsdecals.com/

OK Guys, looks like I have found a supplier of the Falcon 56 canopy so on this run there will be a canopy included!!! Many thanks to Dave Platt and Dan at Wing Manufacturing. Also I am sending the plugs for the Sr Falcon as well so they will soon be able to offer both separately.

Great news Bob!

kdheath -> RE: The Original Falcon 56 Is Back Again! (12/17/2005 5:08 PM)

I dropped Bill Calkins a note to see that he got the decals and this was his response:

Kelvin,
I got them just the other day. I will be able to restore them,
but first I
have to rebuild this computer. It won't recognize my scanner.
The last time
I had to do this took me several days as I have a lot of
software that the
normal user doesn't have.
I would also like to use a different program to restore them
instead of the
one I have been using and there will be a bit of a learning
curve. The new
program, CorelDraw, will allow me to make decals any size I
want without
losing quality.
Bill

Will keep everyone posted.

Bob,

My kit arrived today & it looks great. I will start it this weekend. Nicely drawn plans!

Got mine too - the usps was not kind to the box, but I think everything survived.

Good looking kit.

Great to hear that the Goldberg Falcon 56 is being kitted again. I was the test pilot and RC consultant for Carl Goldberg on all of the early RC kits. I still have one in my hanger and infact flew it one time last year to test a special transmitter control stick design for a person with special needs.
BTW,is my name still on the plans you copied?

Spritch -> RE: The Original Falcon 56 Is Back Again! (4/12/2007 4:20 PM)

Anyone remember the CG of the original Falcon 56... the one without the canopy... and the "plain-jane" vertical stab...??? Built this one in Dec. of 1971... last flew it around 1983 or '84. Even contacted the Goldberg website and all they could send me was the plans on the Falcon III. I dug my Falcon 56 out of storage this winter and started updating my old Kraft Sport series to the new Spektrum DX7 gear. But with the "so much lighter" Rx and servos... I know the CG can't be as nose-heavy as it is now. I have heard everything from 3 1/4" to 3 3/4"... all the way to 4 1/2". Surely there's not that MUCH range in the CG point for the original bird. Any HELP would be appreciated from those that remembers building this great old trainer...!!!

BobHH -> RE: The Original Falcon 56 Is Back Again! (4/12/2007 6:34 PM)

Stan, The original plans state 3-1/2 to 4 inches from the leading edge. I have found that 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 works fine.

Thanks Bob...!!!

I was surprised to find this info was so hard to find up here. Can't believe a "standard", like the Falcon 56, was almost a lost memory after I got researching the Net for the old "how to" info.

Wish me luck... a 1971 model will soon be in the sky (fingers crossed... and the two months of 25+ MPH winds ever lay in OK..!!)... still going to use the old Enya .19 I had on it and see if it can still grab some air.

Also.. THANKS for bringing back all those great old birds..!! There will be some newbies (and old timers) that will appreciate having access to some of the really good ones that have been "tried and true" over the long haul.

I have your website bookmarked as of now...!!! Will pass the word on.

Here is a link to a post about my 34 year old Falcon 56 that I am put back into the air this spring. I stopped flying when I went to college but I hung on to this airplane. It has been grounded for 30 years. Finally got the engine working well and it flys well. The orginal Monokote is very brittle. I'll have to recover it before the season is over. The second photo is before I fixed a puncture in the Monokote. There have been several more since then

Mike,

Are you still using the Heathkit with it?

Just multiply the wing's chord (the distance from the front of the leading edge to the rear of the trailing edge) by .3 and that will yield the balance point position as measured back from the leading edge.
