Hi guys,

Intersting forum, I learned on a Blade CP Pro and now I upgrade to a MX 400 Pro good or not, that what I have now, good deal with tower hobbies

$229 - $25rebate + $35 instant rebate= 169
Gyro Futaba 240= 98$
Futaba servos S3107= $65
$332

Not a bad price for a descent Heli.

The question is, I have a DX7 and I was wondering if Anybody have this radio with a MX400 pro and can give the setup for it.
I guess I have to go:
Swash type: normal 1 servo

I'm not to sure but I will work on it and eventually post my setup.

Also, the way it goes, with a MX400 or any heli like this you have treadlock everything righ?

Eric

bladecx1564,

I fly mx450xs, trex-s3 v2, trex-sa, Axe-cp,

My fovorite keeps on changing.. depending on what i have not flown in a while.. these days.. i enjoy trex-SA.. cause that was my last purchase.. and it is lighter then SE.. thus can be quiker.. at times.. compared to SE...

but i like all of them.. including 450XS.. which is always stable.. and has a different sound than the REX's...

Choopi,

I fly my mx450xs with Futaba 9caps.. .. so i wont be able to help u out on setting up DX7. I believe it would be something like SR1 cause all servos are independently working on the swash.. for the Pro. Peter would be able to help u because he does have an MX-Pro which he likes..

thanks..

squadri.

Squadri is right.

I do use the spectrum radio but I have it on my Trex 450 se.

I think the MX400 Pro is a great 400 size electric and it is still my favorite electric heli. I regularly fly my Trex, MX450xs, blades and the MX400 Pro and there is something about the smoothness and stability of the 400 pro that keeps me flying it over and over.

One thing I did early on was convert it to CCPM. This was about a $50 upgrade from tower for the CCPM frames and then it just flew a whole lot better. Also, most radio systems and most heli's are CCPM these days (including the MX450xs) so it's strange that the MX400 pro wasn't CCPM but it is an easy upgrade.

The mixing on the stock MX400 Pro is mechanical (just like the raptor) so you independently control the collective pitch from the cyclic pitch. CCPM combines the control of these two parameters but all of the popular heli radios (including the spectrum series) do this of course.

Good luck with it Choopi. After many helicopters, the MX400 pro is still just about my favorite and it's even better when you get a good deal.

Peter

Thanks for the info.

I'm looking forward to get it going, I'm tired of my Blade CP Pro, yesterday I change the main motor, and today I was flying in a Gym and my tail motor went dead so I manage to get it down but my blade it a bit, so I need blades, tail motor and the main shaft $25, not fun. I have no time for stuff like that, I prefer to pay more and get better quality, I have 32 flights on this and both motors are done, it's almost like an disposable heli!

As for the CCPM upgrade, I will eventually upgrade down the road.

no thats not it. the x400's tail servo is mounted in the main frame, not on the boom. that heli looks closer to a trex

Actually the servo was just boom mounted but under the frame there are holes and holder for the servo.. This is an upgraded X400 from Ark X400 to an X450.. it has CF frames... not sure if they are the same as the MX 400.. or MX450..

Hey guys, On the issue of boom mounted tail servo, I think it's the way to go.

The MX series makes a place in the main frame for mounting the rudder servo (as you have pointed out) but this gives you very limited adjustability.

For my MX400 Pro and the MX450 xs, I have mounted the servo on the boom by using the trex tail servo holder (I think it was about $10). This gives you alot more adjustability on fine tuning your tail response rather than being confined to the main frame and yes, this is how the Trex series mounts the servo as well.

This MX450 heli is kinda okay.. there are only some design flaws that I found out that seems to be kinda off.... the tail pitch slider has some binding issues.. the slider hits the L arm when its positioned near the tail case.. kinda weird though... and the plastic pulley near the main gear strips easily... is there a posibility of using an align metal pulley to get rid of the plastic one.

The tail drive pulley in the front stripped on me a few times on the MX400 pro but the reason it happened was that I would sometimes land and bump the tail. Now that I hover before landing, I set it down right on the skids and I haven't had that pulley strip in many months (I have some spares waiting becauase it stripped so many times before).

I don't know if the align metal pulley will fit but I think the current design works if you're careful with it but it sure isn't perfect.

I had a lot of binding with my MX450 xs tail gear box/slider/etc so I just tossed it and for about $85, I bought a complete Trex 450 sx tail gear box set up and it works so much better. This seems to be what a lot of people have done with the MX450 tail issues.

I saw the ARK450 of my freind striped the pulley... I think he was really pushing the heli.. when it just piro all of sudden.. good thing even though there were no teeth on the pulley he still had some small rudder
