Ok so the rules at my local track say that you basically have to have a rtr motor or equivalent in the truggy class. This keeps costs down and makes the competition a little tighter. I'm not that impressed with the hot bodies .26 that came in my lightning stadium pro, so I was thinking about replacing it with the sportwerks .26 that comes stock in the mayhem st. This qualifies as a rtr motor and seems to be the best bang for buck at only $129. What do you guys think about that motor? Is there any reviews on that motor that I can read?

foxracer no.1 youre track rules suck ass!!!! i would have a long talk with that track owner. well as far as youre question the sportwerks 26 is the same mill as a mach 26 and both are good CHEAP motors for the money. i will warn you the sport werks 26 will not take much heat if you over lean it the sleeve and piston will be toast befor you know it. thease engines are well known for not lasting that long you will probley be replacing the piston and sleeve at around 2-3 gallons. they are a good fast punchy engine though. man im tramatized about youre track rules this is racing man and racing has always been about who has the most mula and can take a good car or truck and run it up front. tell youre track owner that cheap rtr mills suck and they dont last very long and replacing pistons and sleeves will get expensive not to mention more down time for you. man if my track had rules like that i wouldnt race there. i dont know mabey the rules dont bother you i guess i should have thought that out before I TYPED THIS!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

i guess i should have made it a little more clear about the rtr or equivalent part... basically no exotic motors. there are no "official" rules for the truggy class but its kind of like a gentlemans agreement that the motor shouldn't exceed $200 or so... so its basically a rtr or "equivalent" motor. where the "equivalent" would not exceed $200. but i AM on a budget and was looking for a good replacement motor that wouldn't get me shunned at the local track. although i could race an exotic motor; they like to keep it affordable so everybody can keep in close competition. the closest thing to an exotic motor out there is a guy running a revo with an RB.23 motor. it's fast but doesn't handle as good as a real truggy like my lightning stadium. i dunno maybe i could run an rb motor also. what kind of options do i have?

oooooohhhhhh that opens up a whole new can of worms foxracer you have lots of options heres a list off the top of my head that ive either owned or seen run, the ofna picco 27 8 port is a great engine LOTS of power 200.00 the werks picco 27 7 port is a good one 200.00 orion is coming out with a new wasp 28 it will be an italian based picco like their old 26 that they discontnued basicly turned it into a 28 but it will be a 5 port wich will give a load of low end grunt and still have good top speed. i might buy one of thease. but it will be 225.00 and should be avalible at the end of december. if you whant one now i would get the ofna picco 27 that is a power house and is realy easy to tune and will last around 4-5 gallons if raced every weekend. hope this helped and good luck racing and sorry i flamed so much about the track owner im sure he is a nice guy i guess its kinda cool that everybody at youre local track agreed to have engine limits.

I have the sportwerks 26 in my SUT Pro and for a little over a $100 it's a beast. I was almost going to buy a Mach 28 but my friend put one in his Storm and all it want to do is wheelie all day even when he went to a 14 tooth CB, me no like that. But if you have the extra money, go with the picco 27 but it may be a little too punchy for the track.

i had the picco .27 in the back of my mind... sheldons hobbies has them on sale for $149 but the picture they show has an orange head instead of the green. is that the werks picco? but thats about my limit right there for buy buying an engine since i'm strapped for cash. thats why my whole reason for starting this thread was to see what everyone thought about the sportwerks. but after doing some more research, i think that the picco would be well worth an extra $20-$30.

if it has the orange head then its a werks .27 and that is a killer price. much better mill than the sport werks but it to is a decent mill.

I have a Mach 427 in my Hyper ST Pro, which I use for racing, and it's awesome - 10 minutes to a tank, and plenty of power for any track I've been on.. Just started breaking in the SW 26 today in my Savage, and am still running the stock Mach 427 in my LST2.. Am racing both the Hyper and LST2 tomorrow.

So basically, I choose to run these engines even without the limitations. They're cheap, dead easy to break-in, tune, etc.., and plenty powerful for most tracks... With all the other stuff to worry about when racing - clutch, diffs, shocks, steering, etc..., it's nice to know your engine will run like a Swiss clock without any problems.. I'm still fairly new to racing, and mostly run on smallish tracks.., but at this point I don't think I'd be any faster with an RB, Ninja, or whatever else.. I'm spinning the tires most of the way around the track as it is, and yeah, still getting ten minutes to a tank.. Eventually I want to try an expensive Italian, but as I see it now, there's no need.. Machs(i.e. Sportwerks 26 V2's) are perfect for me for like every application - bashing, racing, whatever I want to do.. Low-maintenance, good power, dirt cheap..

BTW, when I put my SW in the cart at amain, the price came up at $119.. Get backplate number SWK8057 with it..

So if I had a question about a SW 26v2 and I found this thread, replyed, would you be giving me flak too? Cause alot of people just say "just look for it in the old posts, you'll find it" And now its bickering about the thread being to old? "Milky minutes dont go bad." lol
