Yeah, mine would snap (no question about the break) with 12 degrees of elevator. As Anthony Romano commented "this plane has big flippers". With 15 degrees of elevator - if you zero a snap with a V2 YOU'RE doing something wrong! BTW - Mine is nearly perfect now in all regards with only 4 percent rudder-elevator mix (up elevator). NO other mixes if you follow Bryan's "Triangulation trimming" method. Best flying plane I ever had. Wait a minute, my VF-3 isn't finished yet...

Dennis,

Your Tojeiro made it through the gale force winds of the Cinicinnati contest, but then suffered a flame out and damage when practicing. Sorry to hear that, glad that it is repairable.

I believe your thrust angle, wing/stab incidences or CG may need adjustment. Record your current settings and adjust one thing at a time to get it flying straight. Work with Mike Hester and it will likely save you some trimming time. Once I fine tuned the wing and stab incidences mine tracks very nicely. The snaps on mine are really nice too, the way the plane regains control on the snap exit is very solid. I think once you get it trimmed you will really like the way it snaps. Looking forward to seeing it, perhaps at the shootout.

Sure hope this worked, if not, I'll have to try it again later.

Had 0 degrees on the wing and 1 degree pos on the stab.

Now have 1/2 degree pos on the wing and 0 degrees on the stab. Cut the aileron throws to 12 degrees. only had a inch and a half throw on the rudder. went to two inches. Much Much better. Also put the battery pack behind the firewall instead of under the wing tube. Hopefully you enjoyed the pictures. told you it was yellow.

As far as the shootout i will be there. without enough practice. just have to figure out how to get two airplanes. my tent my grill my call girl and a bunch of other stuff in the soccermom minivan.

Dennis,

You were right about it being yellow. Sounds like you are moving in the right direction with the incidence and CG. After the strong, gusty crosswinds in Columbus, I am also moving my CG forward. Now a little more trimming and practice before the Shootout, I am glad you will be able to make it.

Dennis,
That looks pretty good. Glad you found the trim problem. That must have felt pretty weird the way you had it set up originally. I bet it flies a lot better now. When you get everything right you should need ony a slight amount of rudder - (up) elevator mix to clean up the knife edge. Don't try to fix it all with the C.G. Depending on how much the plane weighs, you may need a little more or a little less incidence in the wing to fine tune your uplines and downlines. I was able to get rid of any pull to the canopy on uplines and downlines with just a little more positive in the wing. My plane weighs 10 lbs, 6.9 oz. YMMV.

Dennis,
Looks good!! I could barely see the plane in that second picture for being distracted by the handsome devil holding it.

I was planning on doing Columbus and the shoot out. Unfortunately the elevator failed on my new fashion (RIP) and it ended up rekitting itself. Now I am completely without pattern plane until my VF.3 is done. Got the yellow shot and planning to shoot red this week. I am working feverishly to finish it and save my season.

Just getting the V2 thread up to date. I'm refinishing the last know V2 built by Mike Hester. I know that there are some V2.2's out there, but this is the last V2. The photos below are not for the weak should not be viewed by everyone (just kidding). This V2 was given to the D3 sportsman winner and has been through a couple of hands and finally ended up with me. A few folks have asked if I was going to make it a V2.2, but I decided to leave it a V2 just because it's the last one built by Mike. Updated are coming soon.
