Mike- I have been using hitec 225MG and BB in a lot of my 40 size fun fly's, I have had several fail in the past couple of weeks and also two buddies i have are using the same servo's between both of them they have had 3 servo's fail in the past week. This does not instill very much confidence in these servo's for us. I damaged my 29% edge 540 due to a 225BB throttle servo failing just above a high idle. Do you know if the is a recall on these servo's? Yes, I know you will replace the servo but I'm not sure If I want to continue using these due to the very high failure rate, and all the damage that has occurred to our airplanes. I hope this issue is resolved soon otherwise we will discontinue the use of these hitec 225's. Thanks, Ricky

There have been no problems out of the ordinary with those servos. Where all the servos in the throttle? Throttle servos typically die due to vibration.

Mike - The only throttle servo was a 225BB on my 29% edge, all the others were on elevator/aileron/rudder we use the HS 81 on the throttle servo's on the 40 size fun fly's without any failures. Thanks, Ricky

This is getting ridiculous! I am one of Ricky's friends that have been experiencing problems with my 225mg's.

Yesterday I had another 225mg fail on my OMP edge 540p (.40 size). That makes three 225s on one airplane fail within a one month period. I also had an hs-81 fail on the throttle. 4 bad servo's? what gives? The failures were all on different control surfaces. Left and right aileron, rudder, and the throttle.

Mike, I run 6v 720 nimh pack. I do not use a voltage regulator. I charge with a sirius charger( pro+ series). I have a JR 8103 and use a JR 549 rx. I double bevel for freedom of movement. I am very conscientious with set-up and I always keep the servo's "dialed down below the buzz". All atv's are < 100%. I have about 80 twelve minute flights on the edge.

This is not to bash or complain, I just want to get this solved before I bash my model. I, like Ricky, am also losing confidence in the 225 series. I have been fortunate that none of the failures occurred at a point when I was in a low 3D maneuver. Just lucky, because that is where I spend 80% of my flying.

I purchased all these servo's together from servocity in April 2002. Their service department has one 225mg, one 225bb(this was the one on Ricky's 29%edge. It used to be my edge), and an hs-81. At least I hope they do. They did not answer my e-mail or reply to my letter so I hope they have them. It has been about 2 weeks since I FedExed them. I have been forced to borrow 225s from friends and also use some spare 225bb's.(I hope the nylon gears hold up).

What is going wrong? I have not experienced anything like this before. Mike, please help!

I'll check on it. Who did you e-mail?

The 225's have been a very solid servo over the years. I would say if they are failing consistantly in your application that it may be too much for the servo to handle. Yes, the specs are excellent but it is still a mini servo with a small motor that can only handle so much.

Mike, I e-mailed bpettey@hit.net on 10/30/02. I still have the original e-mail and if you would supply me with your e-mail I will forward to you. The letter was cordial and I asked a few questions, but got no reply.
