Anybody know the lube type & content and the nitro content of COX fuel in the small half pint cans???? The label claims 50% more nitro and improved lube. It is COX No. 550 fuel. Neighbor gave me 7 cans and I was wondering if I could pour it my Cool POwer 15% nitro fuel. Thanks.

why did your neighbor give you 7 cans? is it like 10 years old?
well, anyway I would try it out before I mixed it in with your cool power, hey it may run better by itself I cant remember if cox is 15 or 25% nitro but it is a high content nitro/lube mix..

Their boy had the stuff when in high school. He flew some of the COX plastic UC planes. That was at least 5 or more years ago and his parents brought the cans over and gave to me. There were 5 full cans and 2 partial filled cans. The lids were somewhat rusty and loose. Also, there were no air seals in the cans outlet spout. The spout had a plastic fitting for squirting a small stream out to a container. I like your suggestion on using by itself rather than messing up other fuel if contaminated with water.

If you look closer the lids are probably not loose. It is the "safety" cap that you have to press down and turn.

There is no seal on the can itself. It is the gasket in the metal cap.

You are right about a safety cap. I never looked inside the cap for a seal but you most likely right. I went the field today and got in 2 flights with OS 91 Surpass/Ultra Sport 60 and put all the cans in our clubs magazine/book rack in the pavailion. Any Spirits of St L members who want 049 COX fuel can have it.
