When u shut it down are u plugging the pipe stinger? This way floods the engine, and inturn is harder to start.pinching the fuel line is the proper way of shut down a engine.

Hey guys....

Was just outside breaking in the new engine Hobby Sevices sent me the other day. Checked the temp halfway through the first tand and it was 350......i let it cool....richened the HSN and ran the rest of the tank at 280. Had trouble starting for the next tank....glow plug failed. Swapped it out and got 3 tanks done tonight........only problem im having is its flooding and hard to start. When i shut it down i can see fuel "bubbling" in the carb. To start in I have to remove the glow plug....clear the fuel from the motor, replace the glow plug but leaving it loose....then it will start. Im not sure if the way im running the fuel line is causing the problem. I removed the header tank.....fuel line runs from under the tank....up between the tank and the engine.......its loosely zip tied to the right side of the handle...then down to the carb ( i have the fuel port on the carb facing forward to get away from the throttle linkage )

Any idea's on why its flooding?

Sorry no pics.....I have to get going.....My girl is taking me out for my birthday tonight.....the other day she asked me what I wanted and when I said a Revo 3.3 she just looked at me and said " Is that one of the stupid cars" hmmph ......women

OK Ash, The first thing we want to know in the Warhead forum is how does the Revo suspension & handling compare with the Warhead?
I have not found a truck with better suspension or better handling that the warhead.
My buddy just got the Revo & we did a little recing, his truck speed beat my warhead, but he kept flipping over & over.
My warhead was't tuned properly either & it is having some sort of tranny problems.

Take it easy,

My bro in law with the savage has driven my warhead, and he's always wishing his savage handled like my warhead. Soon as the engine/transmission/cv shafts/radio are up to par on the warhead, it will be a great machine.

I agree with ya ford77id. I just got the savage x and it rolls really easy compared to my warhead. But the x never stalls on me and I have hit the same objects in my yard with my savvy and nothing has broke just burnt up a spur gear this morning. I cant wait for the WH to get back from hobby services Im missin the old beast.

Cyberhog,

How long has your WH been at Hobby Services? And, what did you send it in for?

86atrack4..............i pinch the fuel line to shut it down.

Had a lot of problems today.......engine kept overheating and flooding......could not figure it out. I removed the engine this evening....cheked for airleaks....found none. Put it all back together and still had some daylight and fired it up again. It ran a little better put still had the flooding and overheating problem. Im looking for a good engine to replace the stock one right now but would still like to get this thing running right in the mean time. If all else fails I will just send the whole truck back to Hobby Services and let them figure it out.....

So is the STS .28 strong and reliable? I think im leaning that way for a new motor.....

Your overheating and flooding issue might be related. Did you check the slide opening in the carb? It is suppose to be no greater then 1mm. If you have to have the throttle trim set so that you engine idles with more then a 1mm opening then you need to adjust both the idle mixture and idle stop screw. I try hard to get it as rich as possible on the idle mixture as this helps cool the engine at idle. You'll have to play with it to get the best acceleration with the rich mixture but be sure you do not go lean.

Keeping the carb to a 1mm opening will also help with the after-shut-down flooding but you should also put a throttle return sping on the throttle servo. If you have not notice the throttle servo likes to return to center when it is powered off. This opens the throttle and allows for the carb to sphion off the fuel from the tank. Also you can buy these Revo Engine Shut Off Clamp to clamp off the fuel line instead of pinching it which will also stop it from flooding.

well bill, once again thanks for the revo 3.3 advice. yesterday was the funnest day i've had in a long time. 11 tanks of pure enjoyment! by the tenth tank i had this baby 95% of the way tuned in and doing wheelies on command! did a few accidental flips and cartwheels pretty hard and nothing broke either. Nice! VIVA THE REVO!

OK JUst recieved my warhead back after 1 month at Hobby Services!
On the second start the pull starter broke! SO Now they are sending me a new Pullstart! I have been playing with my Tmaxx 3.3 and waiting for my Revo 3.3 to arrive! IT is good to have the WArhead back and I have to say that I was real happy with Hobby Services other than the month it took. They updated my radio to the 3pm and it is a nice change! Thanks to all for sharing all the great info. I do not need to ask many questions as I have found most of my answers allready here!
On another note, I tried an electric heli! That was a good 15 seconds!
Back to trucks

Did you ask them why the hell it took a month to get your truck back? If it was any other company I would be worried that they were waiting for the warranty to run out before returning your truck.

Sort of figured it out on my own! I called to check status after about 3 weeks! Turns out they were waiting for a back ordered engine mount to come in before sending my complete package back!
When I purchased the truck it had a broken engine mount out of the box never even fueled it!
So I had purchased a new mount and installed it!
My mistake was sending in the old broken mount and a servo saver set that I broke along with the truck! even though they were simply replacement parts they seem to like to wait until all items are filled then send everything back together! Even after a month I was still happy with what they did, Just to bad the truck only started 1 time after return!
Now it is on the shelf waiting for a new pull start and also a carb as it was still running rich on the full tank and lean on the low tank! I think it was better after they adjusted things but Really 1 tank was not enough to really find out much! They really are trying to get the Warheads all sorted out And I really like a company that gives a good effort!
No complaints here!

Oh on the Heli! They are not nearly as cheap to fix!
I will try and be very careful after I fix it!
IT was the same old story, I know everyone else has alot of trouble flying these but I will do a little better as I fly real airplanes and therefore must really understand the characteristics of flight a little better!
And then there was the hover, it was all going fine so I will have to go just a little more Yup first real take off there she goes! Well you know the story from there!
1 crash, $70 15 seconds of fun! And yes of coarse the landing gear training set was allready ordered ( it came in 1 day late)
Back to trucks!

To the guys having problems with the servos moving when they turn off thier trucks, the proper way to turn off the radio system to avoid servo glitching, is turn off the reciever first then the radio. I have never had a problem with flooding because the servo opened the carb when as the radio was shut off.

I shipped it to them 2 weeks ago. It took ups more than a week to get it to them. In a e mail hobby services told me they would have it done middle of next week. I sent it to them for the radio gliching and the truck went on auto pilot and tumbled for quite a way. almost everything broke. I have a couple of pics hard to c all the damage.

OK, ash , The only reason the Revo will be sitting "on the shelf" for a week, will be because it's going to take that long for you to figure out how to keep from hurting your face from smiling and telling everybody how easy it was to get it going, break it in, not have to spend a week tuning it, and how much better a machine it is compared to the SavageX LOL..........oh, and don't even bother to pull the carb off this one, trust me..........

I'm anxious to hear about the Revo 3.3. Just came back from a weekend on block island, RI. Spent most of the time running my Warhead and my SavageX. The Warhead was running strong till I hit a rock wall, broken servo saver as usual. Started up the Savage X and lost a front left wheel nut All better after a quick run to the hardware store. Warhead was running great, temps around 230, fast as heck. Then was blasting down the road and ran over a piece of asphalt, got caught up in the back wheel for a second and broken the rear shock tower. SavageX ran flawlessly all weekend. The Warhead does handle better than the Savage X, doesn't flip over as easy. I can power slides on pavement without flipping it.

but but...all you have to DO to get the Savage to handle better is to lower it with some suspension limiters like zip ties and throw on some wider tires. If you really want to get radical, you can put extended A arms on there

Sorry Ash, should have said a stock savage X and a stock Warhead. I haven't really upgraded either too much yet. I wanted to run the heck out of the stock engines before upgrading and figured if I screwed the engines up no big loss. Both are great trucks but the SavageX is much tougher hands down. I've never seen the Warhead do cartwheels without breaking something. The Savage takes a beating and comes back for more.

and replace the anal probe and searching for the cavity to put it in with a simple box to start it with that also replaces the glow starter. Forget how to seal your engines too. Can't wait can you ash? You still think it'll be sitting long? LOL get the 7.2 battery charged, don't need a hump pack, theres a hole under the truck where you just plug in.
